Default Fallen hero's Box?

As a veteran I want to do something to remember those U.S. troops who have died in Iraq. I'd like to do something in vinyl on my box with names or ribbons. I'm looking for a local business to partner with that does vinyl to donate all or part of their services as I plan on getting a lot of press with this project.

I know Randode does vinyl and I love his work, but this is going to be a big and long project and I don't know if he would have the time to do it. I have BIG plans for this project beyond the vinyl.

IMPORTANT: this is not a "Anti-War" or "Pro-War" project. It is a "Pro-Troops" project. I have my own personal feelings about the war in Iraq but they will NOT be part of this project so let's not make it a part of this discussion please.

If you have any suggestions or contacts please call me at 480-593-0441

Thank you.

I'm still searching...... I'll keep everyone informed. 2,000+ ribbons or names is going to require a lot of work.

I wish I had a talent that would help. It is very cool. My cousin is in Iraq right now, and my brother leaves to boot camp in august. My whole family are veterans pretty much.

Thanks for the offer, while I am a professional webmaster by trade I'll keep you on the list if I need some help.

Are you any good at graphics? I'd like to have someone work on a logo for the blog and the back window of the xB. (I am a great programmer, but a terrible artist). ;)

Sounds like you are talking about kind of a mobile Vietnam memorial type thing. Sounds like a worthwhile adventure. I only pray that it will not be too long of a project. Good luck and let us know what we can do. Maybe you can set up a trust fund or something we can donate to.

I got chills reading this post, infact I am getting emotional now just thinking about how my best friend was killed serving in Iraq a little over 4 months ago. Now my other very close best friend is stationed down in Pensacola, FL for the Air Force.

I am truly blessed to be living in this country. There are men and women doing something I wish I could be doing and that is defending our country.

Because of Basil, Kiss and many others who have served our country I am able to make this post knowing I am safe in this Nation.

Thank you all. My heart goes out to you all

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Thanks for the show of support everyone. I'm having trouble finding a vinyl business that is willing to do the project. Because of the cost involved I can't afford to do it out of my pocket.

I'd accept donations to get it started but I'm not sure how people would react. Since most of you don't know me personaly I don't want people to think I'm trying to just make money on this. Also since I have not been able to get a vinyl business involved I really don't know what the cost would be anyways. (But I know it would not be cheap).

I am thinking of two different ideas....

#1 A small yellow ribbon for each military member who has lost his / her life in Afghanistan / Iraq.

#2 An American flag type design with a white star for each military member who has lost his / her life in Afghanistan / Iraq.

I would have Randode do it but because of the size and cost of the project I'm not sure he would be able to do it working out of his house.

P.S. My comments are not meant to put down Randode in any way. He lowered my box for me and he does top notch work, I'm just not sure he has the time (or can donate the service) that this large of a project would take.

After calling at least 30 different large vinyl shops around the southwest and getting nowhere I'm starting to get worried. I really could use some ideas people or this project is going to die.

Have you got any prices? If we know the cost we may be able to help you sponser the project.

I've been told anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 for a full wrap of the xB.

RBasil, let me talk to a few paople that i know back in Phoenix. I have been throwing the idea of a mobil Iraq memorial around in Colorado while i was there. Being in Iraq myself i don't have alot of time to get to work on the box. The wrap and vinyl are great ideas. I thought about a peice of plexi glass in the back of the box and engrave the names into it. intall some LEDs on the lower end of it, and connect it to the back hatch. That way when you open the back hatch it raises, flip a switch and the LEDs light up the names. It was an idea that i have been throwing around to see if it would work, and i would love to see it done. What does everyone think? Good idea or not?
