ok so i found the rims i want to put on my tC when i get it...

my question is does the recommended offset matter that much?

because they recommend +52 mm and id rather have something like +35 mm so that the wheels are more flush with the body

if rubbing is the only problem possible then i would just get the fenders trimmed

anyone knowledgeable on this topic?

Not an expert...

But, things to remember when playing with offsets...
you are changing you suspension geometry, so besides fender rubbing, you can create other issues.
* you can adversely affect tire wear
* upfront you may have to install wheel stops, to keep your wheels from rubbing suspension etc. which reducing your lock-to-lock turning. (ie wider turning radius)

Just my $0.01 worth, maybe there are others out there with more experience regarding wheel offsets... any one from TireRack in the house?

Having too high of an offset may rub the inside. First you have to decide on your rim width, then you can play with the offset (to a certain extent) to get it set to the area you want...

the rim size is going to be 18 x 7 with 225/40s

52 mm is the recommended offset on tirerack but id like to get 35-40

mine would be 17x9 with a 48 offset, will that be alright? cause i dotn really udnerstand the offset stuff

is it possible to put 19s on and lower it like this. with out it rubbing cos I personally think that looks awesome. and what tire size do you guys think Those are thanks. I believe they are TRD springs as well ___ the rims. looks freakin sweet imo.

How is offset going to affect tire wear? I don't see how a wheel that's 10mm closer or further from stock is going to wear faster or slower. Unless the tire is rubbing a control arm or fender the entire time, I don't think offset is going to affect tire wear. As long as your alignment & camber are correct, Get whatever looks good & doesn't rub.

The way it will effect tire wear is the fact that most people will not get their toe and camber corrected for wheel offsets, and you can get premature wear on the inside or outside edge (depending on the offset) of the tire.
Go see a lowrider with wheel spacers on it, and you will see what I mean ( extreme example.)

Like I said before, things to consider... I don't know about you, but I don't want to go dropping big bills on pricey 19" tires every 6 months or so just because the rims look sweet.

Hey cornfield, that tC has the TRD springs on it and those are the 19s they are offering. They are RH J5's. They don't come in anything smaller then 19". It sucks.
