I've had my strup exhaust for about a year or less, only put about 6,000 miles on the thing, and the tip is rusting, the muffler is turning a dark brown and its shifting its position and the tip is hitting into the bumper

any tips my peeps??

thanks my scionworthy friends!

I can't help you as I mine is only a few months old and has no problems at this point. I would take pics of the exhaust problem and email the pics to Charlie at Strup, he is very helpful. charlie@strup.us

I got the same problem, the only thing I can tell you is try to wipe it down after you wash your car. as far as it hitting the bumper many people have had problems with that. Take it to the local exhaust shop and see if they can maybe bend a hanger/bracket or to to get it centered again. I back up into a curb the other day and melted off the rear lip, I was able to cut off some of it. It's a really nice muffler but the fitment shifts ever now and then.

brown is the color of poop ( chriss griffing )
sorry bad joke

mine turned a bit brown. its all good dough. you can use some shiningmonkey to clean the stainless steel FUJIZ has a DISCOUNT CODE. We tried it on a DIRTY bumper of a truck with dual a exhuast. Afterwards It shined like a mirror.

I didn't try it on my STRUP. But on his it was as dark as his tire maybe like brake dust and that came right off.

his exact words

" i tried so many ways to clean this bumper, I even power washed and not a spot comes off"

after we used shining monkey

he said " where can i buy some at?"

On top mostly is ok, mine came as a goldish silver chrome look. . . I don't know how to explain the actual color. On the bottom though it's a different story. I got water spots, dirt spots, not rust spots but they sure do look close enough to them. I'm not super worried about it cause my B isn't a show car. But I know how you feel about it rusting out and all. I think mine's been on for a year now and compared to all the others I see with exhaust it's pretty damn dirty.

THanks for the info Fujiz, and thanks for the coupon. . . is that shining monkey stuff as good as I here? (not to highjack the thread, but sorry in advanced)

yeah, plannin to do a complete car clean soon, i might just take the whole damn thing off, clean the crap out of it and then put it back on in a new position. That may be the best thing to do with it...

I've done that myself, but I didn't know about the shining monkey stuff and I didn't want to try anything cause I wasn't sure. I'm looking at doing the same thing. I bent a bracket when I hit the curb with the tailpipe. Oh well, just another evening project. . .ha ha ha

Mine has turn goldesh brown also. But you can clean it up not totaly off with Stainless Steel cleaner (like for a stove). This works becuase our mufflers are Stainless. This is how I keep my clean. How this helps

believe it or not... Some 0000 (triple O) steel wool will clean that stainless tip faster than anything else.. Cheap, disposable and quick. Shine it up like new..

You can also use some Mothers metal polish to remove unwanted spots and tarnish.

Only if it's not stainless steel. The TRD says it is stainless inside and out. I wonder if Strup is not, and which other ones are not.
