What's this? The 07' is getting a new look?

Psyco565

no, they stop production in 07 to clear room for the new 08 models

no, they stop production in 07 to clear room for the new 08 models

So, no 07' models? I was waiting for the 07' model.

they will have a RS 3.0 xA and a RS 4.0 xB being released before the 2008 models. so if you've been waiting for the 2007 model just buy one of the RS models.

I mentioned this on another thread but I wanted to know what the xA drivers thought.

I was thinking a roadster might be a nice replacement for the xA. Just an idea. Let me know what you guys think.

I was hoping for the scion version of the g6 hard top convertable

A stronger motor...or a turbo. That would be all the improvement they need.

lonestar
06-30-2006, 02:32 AM
I highly doubt you will see a turbo in a Scion. While it would up the power it would also up the price significantly. It would be worth it, though (IMO).

If they replace the xA completely, I hope they go with the stylings of the Fuse concept car, but with conventional doors, not into the winged look when they are opened.

How bout a TDI???

lonestar
06-30-2006, 07:50 AM
Seeing that VW doesn't currently offer a TDI, that is next to impossible that Scion will. VW stated that they MIGHT have a TDI as a 2009 model. Turbo diesels are generally reserved for german cars...and it will most likely stay that way.

In European countries, Herr Doktor Rudolf Diesel's 1892 invention purrs along under the hoods of one-third to two-thirds of all cars. But here in the U.S., only a dozen passenger-vehicle models with diesel engines are offered: a bunch of brawny American trucks/SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and four Volkswagens. California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont effectively outlaw diesels, and some automakers say they won't introduce diesel cars until they're allowed in every state.(http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1950577,00.asp)

California emissions outlaw new passenger vehicles with diesel engines. This is due to the amount of particulate in the exhaust (soot). Commercial vehicles are under different regulations, which is why you see a ton of diesel pickups.
You can buy used diesel cars as long as they have over 7,500 miles and were previously titled. I purchased my 2001 Jetta TDI from a VW dealer in RI and had no issues registering it in MA.(http://digg.com/tech_news/Diesel_Cars_Are_Back)

I'll be all for diesels, and their claimed cleaner emmisions, as soon as all new diesel-engined vehicles have their exhausts exit roughly where a hood ornament would be, so the diesel folks can breathe the same clean air that we have to when following them...

Since Toyota only sells the 2-door hatch and sedan versions of their Yaris, how about a rebadged Yaris 5-dr?

Last time I was at a Canadian Toyota dealar, standing in a lot full of the 4-door hatchback Yaris,
they definately felt like VERY close relatives of the xA - or even a follow-on for the xA.

Seem to be nice machines. :)

they will have a RS 3.0 xA and a RS 4.0 xB being released before the 2008 models. so if you've been waiting for the 2007 model just buy one of the RS models. There will be an RS3.0 xA but an RS4.0 xB is still a pipe dream. There is only 1 RS series per model year. So by that logic there should be no RS4.0 for the xB. They will have a release series for what ever replaces the xB but it won't be another xB because it will be replaced with something totally different and have a new name to go with it. :relief:

The 'Release Series 4' MAY happen as 'Final Release' which would easily get around the 'one per
year' pseudo-limitation. :)

I believe there will be one final 'special' from Scion for the xB before they try to bury it, but, of
course, we don't know what, if anything that will be. HOWEVER, the Final Series for the bB as it
was being discontinued was the Maziora red/gold bB you keep seeing pics of... :)

I sure hope they (Scion Corp.) starts telling us something. The 07's arent here and they haven't done anything yet except the tC. This is VERY fustrating to say the least.

Actually, the rumor starting to float around is the 2008 Scion xA (which will likely arrive spring 2007) will be based on this car:

Toyota Ractis "tall wagon":

http://www.leblogauto.com/images/roof_3.jpg

The US model will sport US-legal bumpers and possibly the new 1.8-liter VVT-i engine planned for the Toyota Yaris TS sports hatchback that will arrive in Europe soon.

The current Oct. Car and driver 07 New Car Issue, states that the 07 Scion xA, xB, and tC will be carryovers from 06 with almost no changes. Of course the only 07 Scion so far is the tC, in its third model year; of 3 year model cycles so we have been led to believe. I stopped by my Scion dealer today, and talked to my salesman, trying to pump him for any real info, (not rumurs), he might have. He told me they had just had a Scion meeting at the dealership, and had been told there would be NO 07 xA's; nor any 06 or 07 xA RS 3.0's. He said the next gen. xA should arrive in late Feb. as an 08 model, but did'nt know yet if it would still be called xA, or have a totally new name. He said he hoped there were enough 06 xA's in the pipeline to last awhile longer as demand was still strong and said if anyone wanted a first gen. xA, they should act soon as supply will dwindle quickly.

I could really go for that Ractis tall wagon! Esp. if they upgrade the interior to Sion standards.

Well, your Scion salesman deserves a little credit. Tell him he gets an "A" for effort but a "C" for actual knowledge of future vehicles for Scion. Some of his info was correct but not all of it. Im not allowed to tell you which part is fact or fiction...

...You can give Car and Driver an "F" for sucking so bad. They never know whats really happening and have no idea how to cover a car company that is so progressive and non-traditional compared to the rest of the automotive world. They are completely lost when it comes to Scion.
