Yesterday I went to the dealer to get an estimate for a 1" scratch on the back hatch where some damn kid debadged my vehicle with a screwdriver. $300.00 are they mad! He said they would have to repaint the whole back hatch! What can't they a professional body shop fill it in or high speed buff? I know the paint is new so I've heard that ir could be pulled over or buffed? What is another option? How hard is it to touch up and lighlty sand to blend. I need help. Thanks!

try another bodyshop. even if they painted the whole area it shouldn't cost as much as $300.00

A spot touch up on your TCM would be very noticeable. Metallic silvers are hard to blend in, and if the gouges are deep, its unlikely that buffing will make much difference.

Don't know if the scratches extend beyond where your badge used to sit, but perhaps it would be cheaper to just buy a new badge and replace the one that got stolen, and cover up the scratches in the process.

It's really odd that someone would steal your badge. Maybe the xB is reaching some kind of kid-cult status

Most dealership will not patch or paint the hatch up. They have other paint shops that do it. However, those paint shops will charge the dealer cheaper that $300. But since the dealer has to write in paper that this needs to be done, so they jack the price up to $300.

You'll start seeing the xB or Scion badges on Honda's, Acura's, MB GWagens, the Element.

The detailer at Maroone Scion/Toyota told me they have this traveling touch up guy who does touch ups on their customer cars. I haven't tried it...but you might want to try another dealership... Also, yeah... metallic speck paint is hard to touch up. Usually, they have to paint the whole thing.

Hey, if you can't find anyone to fix the scratch for you, I know this guy, his name is the "Sand Man" he charges a flat rate of $2,000. for anything, So, what you can do is scratch all the panels, and paint your car candy apple green with purple flakes and ghost flames if you want. Just a thought! What's that? "says your insurance" your car got vandelized? OK! Do I hear a $500 Deductible? Going once, going twice! SOLD to the guy with the one inch scratch. LEARN How to survive!
