Jeezzz... Depends on driving habits, environment (altitude, temps), mods, fuel type/quality, and expected duration (time or distance). My 06 xB just went over 30K since Aug 05. I went with the recommended NGK plugs. Wear on the old plugs was noticable but normal on the tip and post. Mileage has been about 38mpg hiway. I did notice a bit better pickup after new plugs but otherwise no difference (mileage is still around 38mpg). Reg 87 octane, sea level (Florida), no mods to engine, new air filter, oil/filter every 5k w/Castrol as recommended, and an old fart driver (49) who occassionally needs to haul into traffic, normally drives at 5-10 mph over posted, rarely does jack-rabbit starts.
So NGK for the old fart scenario...anything else than factory, make sure a dyno is used for the comparison before accepting an alternative for a stock setup.
