Corner tail light overlays and rear turn signals...
So for almost 2 years I wanted to cover up the corners of the OEM tails with black vinyl / paint, but I did not want to lose my rear blinkers. Today I finally found a solution.
Modded tails in action:

(no they are not broken, I was testing all possible situations - with parking lights on / brake light depressed, etc. )
And just for fun some exterior pics:

About $20 in parts and supplies, 40 minutes to do the electrical part. 2 wires had to be cut, and 5 (I think) t-tapped.
I used a trailer tail light adaptor - bought it at Pep Boys for $17, but it can be ordered online in various places for $9-10. It's meant to be hooked up to a car without a towing package to accomodate single-bulb tail lights on a trailer. Basically a pretty smart relay combo in one case.
So I had to tap to the left and right blinkers, cut stop light wires and power them from this little adaptor. The blinking 3rd brake light when hazards are activated is a free bonus that just happened by accident.
