Default I'll Miss You Guys! (Selling the tC)

Just wanted to say thanks to the community - I've been here since I dreamed about my 05 tC every night - it's amazing how things have grown and I'm happy to see Scionlife become THE community for tC owners. I loved every minute of driving my tC, never had a single problem with it (except for the rattles) and got great compliments all the time.

However, I'm just about to graduate with my CS degree, so I thought it would be a nice time to sell the tC and move on -
My tC on AutoTrader
Do you guys think I'm asking too much for it? I looked around autotrader and $17-21k seems to be the going price on the 05/06 with 20-35k miles. The KBB with the options specified is $18900 (or so)

I'll miss everyone, thanks for all the help and suggestions!

Well I bought my 06' tC new for about 18,500 out the door.

And your asking more? For an 05? With 20k miles?

I'm not sure if you could get that. But then again, my dad bought my car, so maybee I got my numbers mixed up.

Anyways, that is a beautiful looking car and it DOSENT look like it has 30k miles on it.

Nice~ you are about the graduate and you already want to get any other nicer car? What about 401K, IRA, cash saving and house downpayment??

I am just kidding, I heard tC hold their value pretty well, but you can expect to lose few thousand bucks.

^^ Yup, what he said.

I got mine (IIP 5sp, stock) around 18K (included tax, title fee etc.)

May be 21K is an auto with heavy tax?

I paid $23k out the door (CA sales tax + body kit + dealer rims + dealer tint + spoiler + subwoofer + ipod + trd exhaust + trd sway bars).

When I sell the car, I'm allowing the buyer to say it is a gift to the DMV (hence avoiding them having to pay sale tax).

Oh and the car I got was a 06 G35, Black/Black. I love it (but still will miss my tC!). As far as retirement, etc - since the tC is paid for, anything I sell it for is going directly into my savings...and I got a pretty cushy job out of school...

like the DMV never heard THAT one before.
aside from that being fraud, unless the person is paying cash, they will have a lender, which means a "lienholder" on the title. you cannot "gift" a car that has a lien on it and taxes will have to payed minimally in the amount of the lien. the DMV will contact the lienholder and obtain the lien amount to tax the "gift". jmo, but you really don't want to do any of that hinky stuff so you can keep that new job .

I've sold 3 of my cars before, two were cash and one was a check from their lender. All of them put it down as a gift. Did they later get contacted by the DMV? Who knows. Did I get contacted? Nope.

Besides...they were gifts, they just choose to make a donation for my hospitality, geez!!

Suprisingly, the tC "feels" almost on par with the G35 (at least under 40 mph). The tC has a LOT of torque and with the intake + exhaust, the pull is just about the same as the stock G. (Of course I'm still breaking in the G, so who knows how it feels above 4000rpm...and above 40mph the G just glides quickly to 120+, where the tC takes a bit more...work and time ;-) )

Also, the Pioneer system in the tC is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the "Premium" Bose in the G35. 8 speakers and they all sound like crap. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for...

Well a friend just sold a 05 with nothing to it but tinted windows, with alot of scratches, small door dents and he got 14,000 for it. So you should deffinetly be able to get 16,000 or so for yours.

sad to hear that the g's sound sys kinda sucks. i don't think too highly of the tC's sound, but when you say the tC sounds better than the G, that just shows me how much worse other companies can do.

i personally don't care too much for the G. but you did get the best color for it, black/black. with a set of black rims on that car it looks so good.

have fun with your G man.

hopefully i'll get a nice resale value next year when i sell my tC. keep us posted on how long it takes you to sell and how much you sold it for...

Thanks for the positive comments! I've had a couple of interested people call, but I'm waiting to do the 30k service and get it detailed before I show it in person. Wish me luck!
