Is it a good idea to get a fresh coat of wax on the new car to protect it from dirt, water spots, etc? I've never bought a new car before.

yes, you want to wax the car when you get it. it is ok to wax the car that day or even that week. the paint is already completely cured. if you don't get it waxed then you will have problems with the clear coat.

if you are in so cal you can bring it to my house and i can do it for you. if you just want it waxed with nothing else i will wash and wax it for $20

The new NXT tech wax is pretty good, but if you have money to waste on wax ,go with Zaino wax.

I agree on the Zaino Brothers. Used Z2+ZFX on my Phantom Gray Pearl xA and it offers the best shine and protection.

No Zaino's in my area. Wouldn't it be ok to use Zymol?, from what I read it's pretty close in quality to Zaino's. deeBO

I use Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax liquid on my Polar White xA. It's pretty good. Once it's done, depending on what my budget is...I'll either order the 3-4 products I need from the zaino site, or buy another bottle of Tech Wax...

What about good ol Turtle Wax?

I used Turtle wax Carnuba version and its pretty good, but I'm gonna try NXT tech wax now. Do people wax by hand or buffer?

Ive only done it by hand just because thats all I have....I know my father uses his buffer and it looks so much better

Anyone use a California Duster? I'm thinking of picking one up... I guess I wash, wax, then use the duster to maintain?

Try The Wax Shop products! I just started usind their products on my Xb and it's a piece of cake! The shine is amazing, and you don't have to use too much of your "elboe grease".

I just used the NXT wax on both my new xB and the new Express cargo van. The xB was an easier wax then the van. I think this is because the van had no wax on it. Waxing it was very difficult.

All in all, i dont know if the NXT was is worth the 14 bucks or not, only time will tell.

Has anyone Tried "Zymol Carbon Wax"????? supposedly made for Black/Dark colored Cars.

I want to find a good wax/polish that will keep that car protected. I definitely don't want swirls. This will be my first black car (the tC) and i'm not quite sure how to take care of a Black Car. How would i wipe off the dust, like any particular cloth, towel or whatever?? ok thanks

Isn't Zaino just a polish? and not a wax that protects or whatever?? Just curious.

Yes, Zaino is just a polish and not a wax. Many people say that you should use P21S after you Zaino so that should be a good wax for a new car. Personally I use Meguairs just cause i have it on hand

well regardless of what other people say Meguiar's Gold Class liquid is my favorite. Ive been using it on my moms Lunar Mist Camry for a couple years- by far has the best shine!

Getting ready to wash & wax for the first time tomorrow. Went and bought a bunch of Meguiar's stuff based on what I've read on the boards. Was wondering though - does anyone still use Nu-Finish, "The Once A Year Car Polish"?

I tried some new wax from Darkside Motoring called "Stuf" Wow. That stuf really worked out great! Went on easy but the surprising thing about it, it came off very easy!! :D It seems to be the easiest wax i've tried. The only thing that was close was the zymol. It was also the most exspensive wax i've ever bought but in my opinion, it's the best. Darkside is the only place I have found it and they will mail order it to you. Try it, bet you'll like it :D

Well, I did it. Took at least two hours to do inside and out. Don't know how often I'm going to have the time it takes to really do this right. How often do y'all think the car should be completely cleaned compared to just touching it up? I put a bunch of mileage on the car, mostly highway, so the dead bug total is high.

Im with Na'im..Ive been using mothers for a few months now and havent even gone back to my Meguiars. I havent tried Zaino, nor do i have the patience to do 5 steps to achieve similar results.

I wax the car regulary and keep it garaged majority of the time.
