View Full Version : clear bra rigs13 06-21-2004, 07:04 PM what can you guys tell me about a clear bra? bofa 06-21-2004, 07:15 PM What size are you? They're pretty cool.. but only rated to about 100 mph usually. Doesn't work for me. pfaudi_a4 06-21-2004, 08:20 PM I personally think they are a great idea and should be made mandatory to have but in regards to cars I have no idea... bahamut_zero 06-21-2004, 08:24 PM argh! I keep forgeting this is the tC forum...I was thinking of something entirely different. cornfield 06-22-2004, 12:09 AM they go nicely with clear thongs...? Munch 06-22-2004, 12:12 AM they go nicely with clear thongs...?       fearturtle44 06-22-2004, 12:14 AM they go nicely with clear thongs...? Depends who is wearing (not wearing) the clear items. Kevin GeminiTwin 06-28-2004, 09:19 PM Does anyone have info about the Clear Bra for cars (asked above but never answered)? I found one company in Irvine (http://www.elitecoating.com/) that has some information and pics. Has anyone used this type of product before? Does anyone know of any companies in San Diego that do this? Thanks, Jayme GeminiTwin 06-28-2004, 09:24 PM well, I think I just answered my own question. Found a link to this San Diego company in an xB thread. Guess I'll give them a call for more info. http://www.clearstatementsd.com/index2.asp Jo2 06-29-2004, 12:03 AM I have a clearbra kit on my audi, and it was the best $500 I have ever spent on the car. The kit covers the front bumper, 1/3 of the hood, a bit of the fenders, the sideview mirrors, and the door edges. Not only does it protect your car from rock chips, but bug guts, and tar, and all that other nasty ____ is really easy to clean off the front of your car when you have the clearbra on. R33E8 06-29-2004, 02:48 AM i know 3m makes some clear bra's. its like a film i think that you have to put on your car like saran wrap. (i think) ahurdl01 06-29-2004, 02:53 AM I had one put on my car. It cost a over 600, but was well worth it. The company that did mine (roadblock) uses a 3M film. They did a ____ty job the first time, but my dealer _____ed them out and they are going to redo it soon. You can notice it when you are up close, but not from any kind of distance. Its totally worth doing, as it you plan to keep the car for a while the front end is gonna get chewed up, and in the case with the clear bra, it does no damage. JasonH 07-07-2004, 09:39 PM I just inquired about this and got this response: Thank You! Cost for the Hood and Bumper kit for the tC will be $389.90. While we do not have the kit listed online yet, we do have the vehicle in our tracing schedule. If you desire the kit to be cut and sent to you, we can put it ahead of the other vehicles we are preparing. Shipping cost will be $6.50. Please let me know your desire and we can send you an Invoice through Paypal from which to start your order. The kit will take about one (1) week to process from reciept of payment. Sincerely, J. Michael Thienel Auto Trim DESIGN 1694 Silverspring Drive Appleton, WI 54913 (920) 832-0094 FAX(920) 832-0098 http://www.autotrimdesign.com The price seems reasonable, but I'm not sure if I would install it myself or get somebody locally to do it. Some tint shops also do the clear bras as the technique is similar. JasonH 07-14-2004, 12:50 PM Does anybody know of a good clear bra installer in Delaware (or nearby)? The more I think about it, the more I want one, and I know how important the quality of installation is, so I'd like to find somebody that does good work. Thanks. Enkidu 07-14-2004, 03:32 PM u guys pay too much for clear bra. I had mine installed for 150. covered 1/3 of the hood and mirrors. For another 100 he could do the bumper but I didn't want to... raydn23 07-14-2004, 04:34 PM my friend got his stock with his RSX, im hoping to do the same with all these bugs around here Enkidu 07-14-2004, 04:45 PM Having it dealer-installed around here is 499 for toyota and 399 for scion. No point in doing it if your car doesnt come with it, coz you are gonna have to take your car somewhere (or wait for them to come to you) anyway... so why pay more? rounder 07-14-2004, 04:49 PM Do Scion dealers offer to install bras for the tC? fearturtle44 07-14-2004, 05:20 PM Do Scion dealers offer to install bras for the tC? Not unless she is built up top. Kevin viper1701 07-14-2004, 05:58 PM I have a picture of a Ferrari on my desktop, and it literally took me 5 months before I realized that it has a clear bra on (what a chest!). I think it's a great idea, and I will definitely get one if I get a tC. My current car has lots of paint chips due to rocks and it just makes me sad when I look at the front of my car up close. toyotaisme 07-14-2004, 06:04 PM Here's a picture of the clear bra on my Xb. http://seidner-miller.com/xb/clearbra.jpg JasonH 07-14-2004, 06:22 PM ^^ toyotaisme, did you install that yourself or have it installed? How much was it? toyotaisme 07-14-2004, 06:39 PM I had some one install it for me. the total cost was arround $400 with the installation JasonH 07-20-2004, 08:37 PM Well, it sounds like the clear paint protection stuff is much more popular out west. I called a local place that I heard installed them, but they don't do it anymore. They referred me to a company in Baltimore that does them and they sound really good (Proform Protective Films (http://www.proformauto.com/index2.php).) I know how important the installation is on these things, maybe even more than the materials themselves. I also know you could easily spend more than a thousand dollars getting one installed (including materials.) Here are some great pics of an M3 getting paint protection (http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4291563809). Anyway, long story short, Proform said the install price would be about the same as the materials price, so figure about $800 for the stuff installed. I really can't justify that kind of expense on such an "economical" car. If I bought a Corvette or a WRX STi or something, maybe, but then I probably wouldn't be able to afford an extra $800 :). JDMBLKbB 07-20-2004, 08:48 PM i saw a clear bra on a z8 that came to my work yesterday. couldb barely see it and you know how easy it is to find things on black cars. anyone ever heard of alpina? he said they had done some mods to his car JasonH 07-20-2004, 08:57 PM i saw a clear bra on a z8 that came to my work yesterday. couldb barely see it and you know how easy it is to find things on black cars. anyone ever heard of alpina? he said they had done some mods to his car Yup. The last Z8s were all Alpina Z8s (http://www.bmwworld.com/models/z8_alpina1.htm). On that car I would spend more than $800 for paint protection. I'm sure he spent plenty more. debris 07-21-2004, 03:56 AM www.scioned.com JasonH 07-21-2004, 12:48 PM www.scioned.com They don't have anything for the tC that I could find. |
