We were just getting over that last incident with the guy in the M3 and now this... If your on here, you should be smart enough to not race on the streets, let alone a VW beetle.

Hold up! WTF is a Beetle doing racing a Scion? For all you wanna be racers out there, this should be your wake-up call. Do what I do: if you're at a stop light, and some posers pull up next to you revving their engine, just let them go first. I hate dip sh#ts who do that to me. I'd rather be alive and well instead of being 6 feet deep.

To the dude or dudete out there still running free.

I talk to Paul Walker and Vin Diesal and they want there copies back of "The Fast and Furious".

They also told me you didn't make the cut for the Fast and Furious 4.

So my recomendation is pull the car off the streets hang your keys and turn yourself in.

You made Scion a bad name already.

Police search for man tied to deadly drag race in Orange County

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -- Police in Orange County are searching for the driver of a Toyota who they say was involved in a deadly drag race.

Police say 46-year-old Mark Herbert died in a head-on crash in Garden Grove Friday night while racing the driver of a black Toyota Scion. Herbert, of Fullerton, lost control of his V-W Beetle and hit a Nissan sedan at an intersection.

The driver of the two-door Scion -- which had tinted windows and a spoiler on the trunk -- fled the scene.

The 56-year-old Westminster woman who was driving the Nissan remains in critical condition at UCI Medical Center.

Herbert had achieved underground celebrity for his skills at souping up Volkswagen Beetles to race at drag strips. Fans from the United States, Canada and Europe posted more than 100 messages online mourning Herbert's death.

Really sucks to hear about that. I just hope people don't all of a sudden start racing or trying to drift when Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift comes out this Friday. If your going to race, PLEASE do it on a track! I had a run in with a FM tC owner the other night who wanted to race me. Not too smart to be doing that less than 1/4 of mile from a Sheriff station.

With idiots like this and that tool that hit the school bus, it makes you wonder who is teaching these fools how to drive in the first place. I've done some wild stuff but have never came close to doing anything like these 2 idiots have.

It always sucks to hear this ,no matter what the circumstances keep it on the track lets also pray the lady pulls through. The description is vague to say the least but the concious of this individual will catch up with them.

I just came across this site and thread through a search on the accident that claimed Mark Herbert's life in Garden Grove. And yes, I will concurr with those of you who have stated how ridiculously stupid and dangerous street racing is, as I completely and wholeheartedly could not agree more.

The reason I posted here, as a rep of the VW scene, is that there seems to be widespread beliefs and substantiated rumors that the other vehicle involved in that race was NOT a Scion but a black GTO...which, no offense to Scion owners as I'm well aware of the performance options available for Scions, seems to be more likely the case, given the performance capabilities of Mark's Volkswagens.
There also seems to be some who believe that other factors were at play other than a street racing event, but at this point I'm inclined to believe that the investigator's summation is probably accurate.

I only quoted your statement because I wasn't sure if this was an acknowledgement to the fact that air-cooled VWs can be extremely potent or if you think they're a joke, but ultimately I guess it really doesn't matter? After all, we are in agreement that street racing is a stupid thing to engage in, especially when innocent victims not involved are injured, as in this case.

Anyway, just figured I'd throw that out there. For further details, you can visit www.cal-look.com, as there's an extensive thread over there on this incident. Thanks.
