Has anyone tried to order anything in Carbon Fibre lately?
I tried to order some items for my ride and was shocked to find out that
they are on hold and not taking orders due to a \"international shortage\" of carbon fiber. I thought they were full of it when I got off the phone.. so I did a search
and googled Carbon fiber shortage.. I was floored with the results.
from fishing poles to bicycles to our cherished mod parts for our rides..

from what radode was tellin me the military gets first dibs on the cf and we get the leftovers.. hopefully it won't be too long before i can get the cf hood that i want

 

yeah I heard the same thing. I am wanting to get some things made in CF and cant believe the price of CF to buy in sheets.

 

I have been trying to get a C/F fuel door for almost 2 months and nothing. Something is up!

 

Maybe we have to defend our country from the evil Magneto!!!!!!!

This has been an issue for over two months and doesnt seem like there is solution except to charge more as it comes in. At least that is what I am hearing

 

thats crazy. i was kind of thinking about doing a c/f hood...maybe not now

 

Short supply= MO MONEY--not a good situation.

 

yea it has been this way for a while now.. vis i belive still has some hoods but when that is out of stock it will be some time to get new stuff made

 

It has been the same issue with steel. Steel prices have gone up like you wouldn't believe. Heavy machine manufacturers have almost double the prices of machinery in 1 year. The reason for this has been China. China is building like nobodies buisness.
That could be the reason for the C/F shortage also?! They may be building C/F bridges and skyscrapers......

i'm still waiting on my cf hatch from motorfx. i ordered it in february!

 

Stainless steel prices have been crazy for a couple of years now, especially the high strength stuff like 17-4. Then, if you can pay for it, the suppliers can't get the size you need and you have to buy oversized stock and spend even more money on machining.

I know people that are working on using carbon fiber in all kinds of applications, buildings and bridges isn't quite as crazy as it sounds.

 

carbon fiber is now being used in tires - the new good years and I want them!
