check out what i am currently working on. I will try to get everything painted, dried and attached by friday, but until then I hope it will look good.. tell me what you guys think about it.
wow, looks like it's gonna turn out great. i painted my mudguards black just 2 days ago. i did it quick outside, took like half an hour doing probably 5 coats of color and a maybe 3-4 coats of clear. oh well, i didn't care much for them so just did it quick and slapped them on. i was thinking about color matching, but i thought it'd look weirder to have a mismatched blue so i just went with black.

The guards are a fairly stiff plastic. I was surprised at how sturdy they are. Once they are on the car, they hardly move at all. You can try to wiggle them, but they are good quality and hold fast.

they are dark graphite and i don't care for that color and they look dull since there's no clear on them. hence the reason i painted/cleared them

Yeah, but its the dull plastic black, i did the same i wanted it glossy shiny black. After 3 months the paint started chipping and cracking tho, even with clear coat

Painting and drying should be a cinch. It took me and my buddy about 20 minutes to paint and about 15 minutes to dry. Install time was less than 5 minutes. This was over 2 months ago. They still look 'new'. Here's a couple of pics...

I used "Low Gloss Black" paint from Dupli-Color. Gives my tC that "stealth" look! You can't even tell they're on...

I'm still waiting for the paint to FULLY dry, shouldn't be too long before I install them. As for chipping is concerned, I don't doubt that the paint WILL chip, since they are mudguards, and they are meant to take a beating so the car itself does not.... but as for now, I'm trying to make them look as nice as possible. Good job! :clap: :clap: Now show some pix of the whole tC, not just the rear. Blues might be a tad off, but a damn good match I must say.
P.S. Where's your tire shine? :P The NEWLY installed mud guards should keep most of the 'spit' off your tC.

Someone said on another thread that they got a bodyshop to paint them for around $30, which sounded like a very fair price.

You could have wiped off the mud splashes before taking the picture. :rofl: Doesn't give much faith in the mud guards actually working.

like i said, I encountered some mud before installing the mudguards, didn't have time to clean the car, but they DO work, just disregard the mud... they were there before..

Hello,
For anyone who has painted their mudguards, how does the paint hold-up on them?
I spoke to a body shop about painting some for me, and the guy described that some types of plastics were unable to be painted. You can paint it, but the durability of the paint is very limited.
Just wanted to know about this issue BEFORE I shell out a couple hundred bucks to have mudguards painted to match the car.
