Warranty

I have never owned a brand new vehicle, or one with the factory warranty still in place. I have been told that when you modify the vehicle (they did not specify engine/interior/exterior) it voids the warranty.

Now I would like to add some accessories to the vehicle but...

Accessories

If I, as suggested, add the accessories after the purchase would this void the contract?

Are there matching accessories at aftermarket shops just like the options they have for the vehicle? I am looking at getting the illumination stuff just to add some uniqueness (is that even a word???) to the vehicle. Can you still get this stuff afterwards?

Performance

Now about performance, someone had asked if the cold air induction even helps mileage, or anything at all. What about the Front Strut Tie Bar that is an option? Does that even help?

I'm not a big performance guru, I'm more of a domestic v8 kinda guy and I'm looking into getting something that works more for my pocket but has a nice kick to it.

Are there any other options that I can aim for in the future (yet not cancel my warrenty if that's true) that would help the car better perform yet keep mileage at the same level or better?

And about exhaust, I hate the bumble bee sound most "ricer" cars have. I read in another thread a new header with a larger collection would help, but I want to keep a clean quiet tone out of the exhaust, are there any necessary additions along with a new header?

I tried to get these topics to flow together cause really they all tie back to the original question...

Hopefully you guys can help me! I'm really looking forward to test driving one of these xAs soon, and eventually purchasing one. :D

Those rims are nice...that's wierd though, because they aren't an option here in MI. I wonder if they're only available on the coasts? Would they still fit? Wouldn't see why not

Well I changed my mind, I think the wheels I'm looking at getting are different but they are the 15" wheels.

I have a feeling that most of you guys that aren't getting a better mileage (closer to what the EPA rates the vehicle) is because it seems many have larger wheels on the car.

I think 15" wheels look just fine on the xA, but I'm definitely getting wheels and getting rid of the wheel covers...Plus it will be about 200$ cheaper if I go to a place like Discount Tire.

note: you can find larger wheels that don't decrease MPG, but it's hard. You have to factor in weight, distribution of weight, and tire weight. If the combined factors mean the same amount, or less rotational inertia, you can actually be better off with a high quality light wheel. The calculations and measurements are extremely difficult to do so I won't explain it, nor do I completely understand it myself. But if you go with the stock steelies, you'll more than likely be better off with some 16"/17" alloys, depending on width(wider tires mean more friction and more fuel consumption-- a reason Toyota favors skinny tires vs the super wide tires available on Ford Focus Foci?). But the ideal setup would be 15" alloys. BTW I don't think that 15" wheels look bad on the xA, as the tires already 185/60, and don't look too tall. I've got the steelies with the 6 spoke caps, and I went that way because I preferred the "fat" spokes over the smaller spokes on the 6 spoke alloy wheel. I didn't know those wheels were an option, damnit, they look nice.

Yeah what rims are those on the blue Scion picture, they look awesome. How can they be stock though if scion.com doesn't list them as an option or anything.

Well unless they just recently removed them, that picture is from about two weeks ago, and it print screened right from their website...

Rage and MB wheels, those are a joke, Rage is cheap and the MB looks way to darn heavy, those Enkeis are the best bet and the highest quality. I'm currently looking for two sets of wheels for two cars for me and my fiance and both sets will be Enkeis. They are lighter and stronger than most other wheels and at Discounttiredirect, they are not that expensive.

Today I did an oil change on a maroon xB and it had those 6 spoke rims. I want a set of those for my xA. I wonder if they only came on the 2004 models or something because Scion.com doesn't list them.
