Default Need some help with Power Windows...........Pretty please

Ok well I sort of have a problem and im hoping maybe someone on this forum might have a solution. My passenger side window will not work with the driver side controls but will work with the passenger side controls. I went to Toyota and they diagnosed it as the window motor at $390 + $1.5 hours of labor or so. Question is though the window works and I've done everything possible myself to fix it. Ive taken the door off many times for my speakers(and no I did not cause this problem, someone at a shop I brought the car to did and im still trying to get them to pay for it but its hard proving they did it) and i've reset the windows and done everything.

It seems like a relay or something is wrong. Right? How could it be the window motor, the window works but only with its passenger side controls not with the driver sides control?. Any help would be appreciated.

you unplugged the battery = reset ECU = you need to reset your windows.

Do a search and you shall find you solution.

Please re-read my post. I reset the battery and the windows and have done everything possible. Its something deeper than a simple reset.

hmm.. i don't think i can help unless i took a look at the car myself... i wouldn't know. if the passenger side works on the passenger side.. a proper reset should return control over to the driver's... if not... then.. i dunno...

thanks for input guys. Yea im really stumped here. Toyota diagnosed it as a window motor but it just doesn't seem possible since the window motor is working and the window moves up and down at normal speed.

alright man it cant be that you need a new window motor seeing that the cotrol on the passenger side works. Try resetting it again until it works.

Disconnect Battery
Reconnect Battery
Turn ignition to ON
Lower both windows half way down atleast
Roll them both up with the Separate controls first
Hold the controls up for more then 2 seconds then release
They do it again with the driver side conttrols

Worth a shot right? Lets see if it works.

OK I just did the whole reset. Disconnected the battery, reconnected it. Put the ignition to on lowered both windows half way and used there own controls and rolled them up and held them. Drivers side reset perfectly and the 1 touch roll down and toll up works and passenger side 1 touch roll down and roll up still won't work and the driver side controls for the passenger side don't work. One thing I did notice though was if I held down the passenger side window and while it was rolling down pulled up on the drivers side passenger winodw control the window stops and it makes a quick clicking noise. Its like it almost wants to work but just won't.

hey by any chance is ur passenger side control light on the driver's side door control blinking? when i got my infinity components put in the doors of my tc my auto down feature wouldn't work and the light was blinking but after 3-4 hours it came back on by itself. give it some time after the reset, seeing as how it works wif the passenger side it couldn't be the motor. BUT.....it could be that the shop messed ur driver side switch up when they took ur door apart.

yea the windows button on the passenger side does blink. I remember it blinking like the first and 2nd times I took the door panels off my self to install speakers and then did the whole reset thing and no problems. This window is getting me really stumped. Cause toyotas sayings its the motor and wants to charge me $550 for the pasrt with 1.5hrs of labor but I really don't think its the motor.

i FINALY figured it out chef. it was in the owner's manual. the same thing happend to me after i disconnected my battery and i was stumped. actually i think as long as u cut power to the motor of the power windows it does it. anywho. here is the whole deal in the manual.

IF THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED OR RUN DOWN:
the power window may not operate automatically and the jam protection function will not funtion correctly after you reconnect, replace, or recharge the battery. at this time, the indicator lights of the switches will flash. in any of these cases, you should NORMALIZE the power window on each door. (this includes the sunroof).

to normalize the power windows:
1. Push down the power window switch of each door and lower the windows half-way.
2. Pull up the switch until the windows close and hold the switch for at least one second. (it makes a click sound).

your windows should work after this. if it doesn't then sumthing else is wrong and u need the dealer to diagnose. but it definately isn't ur motors.

how long have u waited after reseting the battery and windows. because when i put my CAI the CEL light came out so i had to reset my battery.
i unplugged it about 2-3 mins and when i plugged it back on the driver window lowered but the 1-touch didnt and i couldnt lower the passenger windows with it. the passender switch worked as well but no 1-touch. the same thing with the sunroof, i had to hold the button for the entire process of opening the sunroof.
besides the point, i had to wait about 18-24 hrs till everything kicked back in to normal. it has something to do with the battery needing to charge itself back up to make everything work correctly. it is some type of fuel cell or something that needs to heat up or charge up.
anywho, make sure that after u reset the windows n battery to wait at least 12 hrs to see if u have at least regained the driver switch to control the passenger n u should get the one touch back soon after that.

hold up on the driver side passenger window control for a few seconds while the window is up....

pull driver side door off and throw it on the ground... then hook it back up... ??? or just check the switch connections..

what in the hell are you talking about?? are you sure it's not just a bad flux capacitor?

honestly, it sounds like either the driver's side switch itself, or somewhere in the wiring running to it. you said you had your door apart several times. it wouldn't be too hard to knock a wire loose in there while installing some speakers. I'd say take your driver's side door back apart and check all your wiring.

all i was saying is that it looked to me like it took some time for the entire electrical system to actually reset itself. if keeps trying to reset because it isnt working maybe its cuz he hasnt gave it enough time to reset. thats all i meant to say.

disconnecting both is not required nor will it change anything..

btw.. when you do disconnect your battery... disconnect the negative side (black...).. and you only need to do that side.
