Ok, here's the deal. I have an 06 tC and everything is stock plus the bazooka sub. I don't really want to get a new HU or change out the bazooka sub, I like the stock look. Would it make any difference in the sound quality if I put in some aftermarket components, or would it not make much difference since i plan on keeping the stock HU?

Thanks

Sound quality would definitely be better if you invest in some aftermarket components.

or you could hide a 4 channel amp under a seat to power your factory setup. Some speakers (like Infinity components) dont sound all that great unless they have an external amp on them.

Sound quality will not improve unless you put in a better head unit. Speakers alone will do little without proper power, i would suggest a 4 channel amp as well as new speakers all the way around.

You have to consider the wiring too. I would seriously consider upgrading the speaker cable if you buy some nice components.

So basically what your saying is that unless I decide to replace the headunit, its kinda pointless to put in aftermarket components?

Or... if i did buy some aftermarket components, would i need an amp, or would the power from the factory headunit be enough? I'm not looking for anything that is just pounds, but I do want something that has fairly good sound quality.

add an amp and components and it'll give you better SQ... look at www.edesignaudio.com for great products!

What if I didn't add an amp and I just got new components and used the existing wires?

Then, If I do add an amp, whats the best way to hook it up, maybe one of those rca adapter things off of ebay?

Thanks and sorry for my stupidity

just run the wires off of the amp to the speaker/xover/tweet. The stock wires are too confusing and if you ever want to put your stock speakers back in you wont have to mess with wires!

what about hooking the amp up to the HU? Whats the best way to do that and not have to splice any wires?

Ok, also, won't I also need some type of mounting bracket or something for the speakers? If so, where could I find some? BTW, thanks for all the help, even though I'm sure you've answered questions like this a thousand times.

no problem, thats what were here for!

This guy on here (SL Name) "Mandos". He works for a company called "Elemental Designs". They make great car audio products! He made some baffels that will be the bracket and they use the same wood (3/4" MDF wood) like ppl use for sub boxes. You can buy them off of his site but i cant seem to find it?

click here and give him a PM. he would give you the details on how to get them. I believe only $20 for the front 2.

best way to hook STOCK HU to an amp is a Line output Converter.... "mandos" (Chris) can hook you up with one of those as well

Ok, if I get the edi-6000s, would the nine.2 amp be what I want?

SCI_TC_GUY

Yes, the Nine.2 would work great with the 6000s..

So if I decide to go with ED, then this would be all that I would need?

eDi 6000s + tC Baffles $145.00
NINe.2 Amplifier $215.00
8Awg Kit w/ RCA $30.00
2CH Line Converter $16.00
$406.00

If that is all, then I'm looking at spending between 400 and 450 for it all. I am gonna look around for other options too, but at the moment ED seems to be pretty nice. If I do go with all this, it will make a real noticeable difference in the sound quality, right?

Thanks again,
Danny

yeah... if you send "mandos" a Private Message on here telling him what you're looking for, he MIGHT be able to get you some sort of discount..

Ok, the amp, where is the best place to hide it? Would it fit under a seat or would i need to put it in the back like beside the spare tire in that compartment?

SCI_TC_GUY

I'm not sure if the Nine.2 would fit under the seat, but Chris (mandos) would be able to tell you..

in my imo keep the stock head unit then upgrade all the other components. then upgrade the headunit.. if youre still willing to.

use a JL cleansweep and run your 4CH amp off that thru the OEM radio. I have done it twice in a tC. You wouldn't be disappointed. And you get an Aux in too.

dont forget about the "SSP" trick if you want to keep this UBER stock. =]

I will bite, what is the "SSP" trick?

ADRdesignCo

hold down the SSP button on your stock deck. then change it too xB "feel" or whatever you feel works for you. what happens is that it changes the EQ settings in the car, and having it stuck on the standard tC setting really bites. I changed it in mine and its a totally new sound =].
