dealers and anyone who has the car already with the subwoofer...

how does it sound? decent? bezooka subs don't have the kind of range i'd like in a subwoofer (sensitivity starts around 50hz... i'd prefer something like around 15~20hz.. ) but if it sounds decent then i want just include it in the payments...

i like the way the inifinity basslink performs... small with tight bass and i think that would fit fine in the tC. i'm hoping that it will sound at least close to that.

i think it sounds pretty good, but im not a car audio guy. im happy with mine for now.

I don't like the one for the xA/xB...too bulky and doesn't sound very great for the price.

The tC one if really cool for a factory unit! It is neat how it sits off to the side and is molded to the edge of the trunk. Doesn't sound too bad either. I know a lot of hardcore car audiophiles are probably going to rip it but for something off the dealership lot not too shabby.

I'l still wait until someone makes a 1x12 or 10 in the same design. It can't be that tough, and then I get to pick my poison for amp (under driver seat) and sub.

Does anyone have a picture.

I keep hearing, how it is tucked away to the side but havn't seen a pic yet. I thought the tube was just strapped into the back.

I really am not sure what sub these guys saw, can anyone post a pic.

The dealer told me that they opted for the tube instead of the custom enclosure to save some money.

Go to build your own scion, click the tC high-bandwidth, and install viewpoint animation right under the picture. When you select the sub option, it will show an animation of it.

Also, that story your dealer fed you about the tube instead of the fitted one is BS. The fitted one is only $20 more. A small price to pay for a sub that fits out of the way and looks nice versus an ugly space-hog tube. If you got the tube, take it back.

i heard it on our ride and drive on wendesday and its not bad for a dealer/factory option. certainly the location is better than the xA and xB.

yea i used to be a big audio fanatic... helped build a friend's system loaded with Fosgate DVC 12" sub drivers, phoenix gold amps, infinitiy kappa components w/ pioneer premier 6x9s running off of a sony mobile ES head unit and pioneer DSP... (yes that was all gratuitous information to make me look like i know what i'm talking about) :P

in any case, the car is small and has an open hatch area so i figured whatever the options have to offer might be good enough for me... never really been a fan of bazooka products but i figure it's gotta be ok since it's an open hatch... anyway, i'm probably going to get it just to factor it into payments (big reason for alot of the options i'm getting...) just tell me if anyone knows FOR SURE (alot of posts speculate on this) whether or not the sub is coming straight from the head unit or if it's just tapping from the rear speaker? i just hope it doesn't sound like the RSX's / Bose's weak excuse for a subwoofer...

It runs directly off the HU~A special harness plugs right in :D

The sub is a pretty damn good factory unit, but it by no means bumps. Its acceptable for me for the time being til i tear the car apart and put a real system in.

If you're looking for a system, just order no sub to save money for a future install. But I'm kinda into my setup. I know most just want simple bass in the back....

any links to ordering or at least info on the harness? compatible w/other setups or no? my jl 12w3 is sittin' in my garage just itchin' to get out but i'm not planning to swap the head unit for another month or two. it'd be great to get the sub in there just for the time being. that sub pounded in my camry, god knows what itll do in a hatchback :D

haha, i hear yah. as far as i know, it's just a standard toyota double din slot, so there shouuld be plenty of spacers out there. I contacted crutchfield to see if they can help me out. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I want to hear from some owners who are doing any kind of audio upgrade. One of the first things I plan on doing is to replace the head unit and add an amp/sub. I mean, when it hits my driveway, the project will begin.

I think the stock speakers will be sufficient for the time being. Upgrading them later and adding dynomat extreme will be a piece of cake if I run the power initially.

I'm still running stock speaks in my 91 camry with tweeters, a sub, and a kenwood head unit. Other than an extreme lack of midbass (which the tCs 6.5" should rectify), they don't sound half bad. You'd be supprised how much better stock speakers will sound when they are crossed over at 100Hz and not trying to reproduce frequencies that they are incapable of.

I've got a Celica GT2k with Xtant603amp, MB Quart PWD254 10" Sub, Kenwood Z828 head unit. Any ideas on how I can make an enclosure and hide the amp out of the way? I want o make sure I can still get to the spare tire though. I've got pics of it in my celica if anyone's interested in helping me out. 8)

It's defiantly a double-din radio, so a standard Toyota pocket from your local Best Buy should work fine. I'm curious as to what wirintg harness it's using (ie standard Toyota?) and if that factory sub is amplified at the sub, or if it's a secondary amp. I'd hope it was secondary amp'd, just so you could swap in a real sub into that box.

That's an expensive box. Just get the demensions and build (or have someone) build on for you.

The subs have built in amps. Im looking forward to checking out the 10" in the tC next week.

That looks nice, but it's a total beast. Takes up your under trunk cargo space and the whole right side of the vehicle.

A custom box could probably fit a 12 in that same space, just put the amp under a seat.

Don't get me wrong, it's a major improvement over most factory options but is far from ideal. If you are lazy or don't know enough about custom audio, just hire it done.

Definitely 10" but I don't know the wattage.
[EDIT: Oops. Didn't realize the pics were posted above. It's a different pic, though. What's the little blue strap on the sub a couple posts up?]

Not much power, even assuming it's all clean power (which it's probably not). I have a 150RMS RF pushing a 200 RMS RF 12" sub, and I could use more. It's enough for sure, but I could use more.
