Well compaired to the people in florida who are paying $400-$800 dollars in Doc fees, i feel lucky to be charged $100-$200

but

I noticed this fee at two of my local dealers under the finance pricing section under the finance menu of the website. Here is what is says...

Vehicle prep in excess of factory allowance - Cleanup, polish, and conditioning where applicable - $291

Has anyone seen this fee, I did a dealer search on Scion.com and check about 20 other dealers around the country and no one else is charging this fee. I thought I was lucky with $100-$200 Doc fee, but by the time you add on another $300 for vehicle prep, its now raised to $500 extra pocket money for the dealer.

Anyone else see this fee

Nope, I would call the dealership out on this BS fee, basically what it sounds like is a $291 carwash. If they try to charge that I would quickly go to another dealership... I HATE all these dealerships trying to raise their profits with BS fees. So far I am happy with mine... except they keep telling me theyll know if mines in their fist allotment or not in a few days... but Ive heard this 3 times now. But I do like that I walked in... choose what I want on the scion webpage... they printed that, charged me that and a $51 doc fee... and done.

Sorry, I have not gone to the dealer to ask yet, but I will as soon as I am ready to buy. I did email one dealer asking what it was but never got a response. I actually emailed them three different times with no luck.

You think the Vehicle Prep fee is bad, one dealer here, the same one who won't return my emails that I mentioned above, not only has the Vehicle prep fee and the Doc Fee, they also have listed on there website under new vehicle pricing a fee called a "special benefits package" for $598.90. I am not sure if this is mandatory or its an option.

So if all these fees are mandatory, this is what they are wanting to charge for a stock Automatic TC

MSRP- $17,265
Document Fee - $99.95
Special Benefits Package - $598.90
Vehicle Prep - $291.95

Bring the grand total to $18,255.80.... :(

Hopefully I can get them to drop the other fee or I am out the door and on to another dealer. I am willing to pay the Doc Fee but NOT the other two. I have not seen any other dealer in the country charging those strange fees.

god , thats not too bad even though your tax is a bit higher, with tax (only 6% here )at the one dealer I mention above it would be $19,290.90 not including license fee for a base auto

:roll: They are bull____ fees. Don't pay them. Go to another dealer that doesn't have them and call Scion USA and report them. This is the only way these people are going to stop. Complaining about it here won't do any good.

Yeh man how bout I was looking at the paper and I see a $530 rod polish fee. I was like wtf thats one expensive........ :wink: :lol: Anyways for that much money they should wash that car about 5 times

My dealer gave me a final price of $18,100 w/ 6% tax for a base automatic does this sound right or am i missing out on some dealer prep fees? I was under the assumption that the $500 delivery fee was included in this price... now im worried :x

No, that does not sound right

but in a good way, an automatic runs $17,265 and with 6% tax it would run $18,300.90. Why did they quote you $200 less than what is supposed to be. Are you putting any money down or are you trading in another car?

I would not be worried at all, even if they tacked on a $200 Doc fee, you would still be paying just what you are supposed to. If you are sill worried then ask them if there are any other fees that will be tacked on later. So far the two fee I mentioned above, the "special benefits package" and "vehicle prep" have only been at two dealerships near me. Check the website from the dealer that gave you a quote and look under vehicle pricing and make sure you don't see any other fee other than the price of the vehicle. If you do, call them and ask them if they already included them in the quote they gave you or if they will tack them on later.

I'm getting a college grad discount so maybe that's why i got the total quote for $18,100... but you know i really wouldnt mind it if it was $18,100 before college grad lol... I'm puttin down $4,500 of my own and then the $400 college grad so i guess we'll see what happens when they call me back.

And with that said, i'll put my pics up.. im gettin an azure pearl one and everyone's posting their pics of their cars but noone's shown us an azure pearl one :wink:
