Thanks :) Minsk99 06-26-2004, 02:34 AM Look on the side of your tire. Most will tell you what psi to use. claffeyb 06-28-2004, 05:28 PM On any motor vehicle, the tire pressure on the tire is not necessarily the pressure since that tire may be used in many different applications. That is the maximum recommended which should not be exceeded. With the standard tires, the tire pressure to be used is that which is in the owners manual, and usually posted on a door pillar, glove box or inside gar cap door. When you go to aftermarket tires/rims, I believe that if they have the same speed rating and are same size, you stay with vehicle mfrs recommendation. From discountire.com: Another valuable resource is the Tire Load/Inflation Tables. Your nearby tire dealer should have a copy. Not only will this document tell you the correct tire pressure for stock sizes, but it will provide the information on optional plus sizes as well. A good example would be the findings on a Honda Civic with the stock size 185/65R-14; recommended air pressure is 28 psi. Plus one size is 195/55R-15 with a recommended air pressure of 32 psi. Plus two size is 205/45R-16 with a recommended air pressure of 36 psi. Note how the air pressure increases with plus sizing to meet the load carrying capacity for the car. 3xv 06-29-2004, 02:24 AM claffeyb-Thank you for the information. I'm currently running 36psi. F 35 psi. R on 215/40/17 tires, so with the info. you just provided, I think I'm very close to the actual recommended pressure for my aftermarket tires. Thank you again. Have a nice week :D |
