After playing around with my TC all day, I discovered a few things I didn't know the car had...

First, Tire Pressure Monitors! When I first got the car, I noticed this weird lone button in the glove box. After reading the manual, it explained the button resets the Tire Pressure Monitor :shock: The brochures and not even the Scion website, everywhere I looked didn't mentioned anything about Tire Pressure monitors.

Does anybody know what type of Pressure monitors they are? Are they wireless battery operated attached to the inside of the wheel and will need to be changed down the road? Or is it some type of sensor in the hubs?

Second, I reading the manual, it said the keys have transmitter chips in them so only the car can start with these proper coded keys. I didn't see any mention of this in the brochures or on the site, anybody have anymore information on this?

flint or black?

The key is what we call "lazer Cut" it is specially made so no one can hot wire your car. If you have ever seen "gone in 60 secs." The mercedes are the ones that those keys. It is a security feature.

i also didn't know about the pressure monitors until i got my car home...i also didn't know it had tie-down buckles in the back and had a bag of tie-down straps in the glove compartment...also liked finding a tire cover in the back storage area..these aren't huge things but it's still more stuff that comes standard...

Your salesperson didn't do a good job if you had to find that stuff out on your own. Mine explained the features of the car pretty well.

Thats not unusual....I always do that at dealers. Man, if you are selling the car, study what you are selling!

My GS300 has those keys and it is correct that the key does have a chip in it, so even the if someone laser cut a key, they would still need the proper chip to work.

The bad news? If you need a key replaced it's about $250. I had 2 keys for my car and one of them broke, because the plastic part is only held on by one screw and after many uses it just gives out. Hopefully they've improved the keys since then.
