I am not sure which one to go with.. Any thoughts or recommendations on which product I should go with? Any help would be great, thanks.

 

i am in the same dilemna pretty much , if u are adding some high end subs and amps i would go with the 7017 ..because it has 5volt pre outs , where are the the 6019 only has 3volt pre outs...i would love to see a picture of the menu in the 6019 , i cant find a picture anywhere, i would go with the 7017

 

I think I am going to end up going with the 7017.. I'm not worried about how much they put out when hooking up subs, amps and all that crazy stuff.. I did all that in my teenage years on my first car.. I'm mainly looking for the cleanest sounding/viewing and the overall best quality of the two.... I wish someone had some pics of these two, arrrr

Well, I'm orderig the 6019 mainly because of the price difference.. I'll try to get you HELPFUL people some pics of the installation

 

i had the 7017, and i liked it alot. the video quality is really good, as well as sound. i'm not sure about the 6019 cuz i've never seen it. what's cool about the 7017 is that u can put videos and music onto a dvd and record it as a data disc. the eclipse units dont let u do that. u have to make an actual video dvd or audio cd. what i like about the 6019 is that the screen is a little bigger, and also, that the control buttons are on the bottom of the screen. i like that better than having it on the side

 

That's like the complete opposite. With higher end amps, you don't really need the 5v preouts. 3v are more than great. 5v preouts come in handy with lower end amps.

 

any of these have iPod control?

 

The Kenwood interface works with both of them I believe. I have the DDX7015 which is an older model and love it! It only has the 3v preout and my sub sounds amazing.

 

i didnt mean higher end amps , i meant higher power amps ...anyway i just ordered a 7017, ill give u some details when i install it

I have a DDX-6019, I love biger screen.

 

Are you able to close the compartment to hide the screen?

 

I ended up getting the same, but i cant get the dvd to show... It plays and i hear it but i dont see anything on the screen.. I'm hoping it isnt a wire that i forgot to plug in and it's just a setting, any ideas? Also, how do you get custom backgrounds/screensavers?

AWDSM-I drilled holes about a half an inch back on the brackets and the door closes without a problem.

 

there's a video select button. i have the 7015 so i don't know where it is on yours..but that might be it. 1 press gets you to your nav, another to the dvd video.

 

From what I've read there are no custom background options. Only the 6 that come pre-set.
