View Full Version : Question for those with the new Sonar projector headlights..
Boxer_Rebellion 06-27-2006, 09:54 PM Perhaps someone who has these can answer this somewhat odd question.
Are the Sonar lexan covers (clear part) interchangable with the stock ones? I noticed that the ones on the older Anzos seem to be...
The reason that I want to know is I want to use my eyelids that for the stock lights one em, and the sahpe of the lexan cover is different on the Sonars... If I can combine the OEM/eyelid cover with the Sonar projector housings that would be ideal :)
Anyone have both who can eyeball it and see if they would line up?
For reference these are the Sonars I'm referring to-

Thanks in advance.
IH8ONYU 06-27-2006, 10:03 PM the covers on these lights do not have the extrousion by the parking light / turn signal. otherwise pretty exactly the same...
Boxer_Rebellion 06-27-2006, 10:11 PM Well it seems they flare out gradually, versus just right over the turn signal part. That's why my lids won't werk with em :)
What I need to find out is whether the cover and housing attach the same way, with the same little clips and everything...
IH8ONYU 06-27-2006, 11:10 PM i believe they have the same clips in the same locations, they should swap over after some oven time...
Boxer_Rebellion 06-27-2006, 11:26 PM Yeah that's what I'm thinking too...
The stock OEM covers have that cool prismatic thing going on over the turn signals, I think that would make the projectors look a little more "factory"... plus I could use my eyelids-

IH8ONYU 06-27-2006, 11:52 PM if they don't work you could always get some Vinyl to overlay, or you could make some out of fiberglass, molded to fit over the new housing. kinda a pain in the butt, but it can be done.
Short_Bus 06-28-2006, 02:21 AM the first set of projectors I actually like

violent_b 06-28-2006, 12:22 PM anyone know what bulbs fit these projectors?
Boxer_Rebellion 06-28-2006, 01:33 PM I bet I know what you're thinkin... :)
They come with stickers saying "no HID bulbs" but I bet that won't stop you, haha.
Petey 06-28-2006, 04:14 PM anyone know what bulbs fit these projectors?
The lows are 9006 and the highs are h1. I have a set of these the light up the road great but i took them out because they dont fit as good as stock.
HeathenBrewing 06-28-2006, 07:25 PM .... but i took them out because they dont fit as good as stock.
What excatly do you mean by that? Are there large gaps between the grill/hood/bumper? Do they 'rattle' around when driving?
Boxer_Rebellion 06-28-2006, 07:32 PM Do they not line up well on the side where the bumper attaches, like the Anzo's? Cuz that would be a dealbreaker...
Petey 06-28-2006, 08:15 PM i had a little gap where they meet the fender on the passenger side other than that they were fine, the halos are bright as hell to. the only reason i took them out is because everything i do has to be damn near perfect. If anyone wants the lights i have ill give them to you for half what i paid just to get them out of my garage.
y0itzduy 06-28-2006, 08:19 PM wow those head lights actually look pretty good.
where (not ebay) could i get a set?

YourNameHere 07-19-2006, 12:02 PM so the light out is good? im timid to get headlights cause it seems they all suffer in light output compared to stock. i dont really want to go to HID
K_Dawg_ONE 07-19-2006, 07:00 PM Mine look like aquariums now...and to think, I got rid of my TYC headlights for THESE!!!
