Default Semi Poor gas mileage..... thoughts?

I have a 05 Box 5spd..... when i was all stock, i was able to get around 30mpg or so.....

After i got my 17" wheels/tires and tanabe DF210's, of course the car feels a lil slower,
but i am starting to get around 24-26mpg...... is this normal with my setup?

I am running aftermarket headlights and HIDs if that matters at all?

ive heard this many many times before on the xB side. it kind of depends on how heavy the rims are, how wide they are, and the profile of the tire. if its a relitively new install, gas mileage should magically go back up (my guess is because of the vvt-i recalibrating for the increased engine load). the thing about the xA is that it takes more than just rims to get gas mileage to go down dramatically, lol

I recently went on a road trip with a convoy if xB's. we were all holding a cruising speed of about 85-90 miles per hour and they were getting like 32 miles per gallon, i was getting 45-47. so after about 280+ miles they would complain that they were almost on a quarter of a tank, i still had over a half of a tank left. in the city, i have yet to see under 35 miles per gallon with the a/c on

The highest MPG i've ever got was 32, I have an '04 xB w/auto and the avg tank is 27 to 29 mpg. I have no idea how people can get 35+ on a tank. I really question any claim of real high mileage, do any engine mods help? What type of gas?

Alex, its the Hid's they rob your mileage what with all the drag they create! i get about 28-30 on 19's with I-H-E-P, FULL dynamatt, speakerbox, etc.. lots of weight in mine and i usually cruise 75-80 in 5th gear..

I wonder if this is my situation, because i haven't driven a whole lot since i've gotten the wheels and got dropped...... Maybe it just needs more time to adjust..... but my car just feels sluggish.... and i dont have a system or anything really on the inside..... i'm hoping that in the future when i get me I-H-E, and maybe pulley, that'll help to get some umph back from the weight of the wheels..... It doesn't help i'm sure that i'm a big guy in the first place.... but when i was all stock.... i was getting almost 30mpg whether i was freeway or city....

Stock 2006 Xa (auto) average 26-28 mpg with light foot mostly stop and go. Consumer reports "real world" city gas mileage is a paltry 20 mpg. Hard to believe some of the gas mileage claims that I've been reading.

i would trade this car in so fast if it got me less that 32 mpg. i took a small trip to colorado springs, 97 mph was my average cruising speed (jotted down the speed every 30 minutes and found the average), 42.8 mpg was my fuel economy.

Dude, no fair.

My mileage in town is normally 29-30MPG, and if I decide to go about 80 on the highway, My MPG drops to about 25. WTF?

The variability (from the mid 20's to the low 40's) in mpg is incredible, even when you take in account the multitude of factors (e.g. driving style, type of driving etc) , it's hard to account for.

That sucks I get 260 to a full tank by 270 I better be pulling into a gas station. Maybe its the mix 215/35/18 in the front and 215/40/18 in the rear
