its_ikon 11-18-2003, 12:36 AM the xB doesn't have a towing capacity or if it does, it is extremely light.
jjambox 11-18-2003, 01:40 AM do you see that white xb in the back
Docsnuff 11-18-2003, 01:44 AM That is the icecream truck xB...
2fixA 11-18-2003, 01:49 AM is the blue one the open deck xB? Looks something like it,just am not that adept at spotting it from this angle..
opr8r!! do we have another picture from a different angle??
jjambox 11-18-2003, 01:51 AM the blue one is like a truck
scionracerxb 11-18-2003, 02:18 AM there are pics of it from all angles in the scionlife gallery. I'm not worried about the towing capacity as the trailer and jet-ski are very light. (under 800lbs)...(my fat uncle weighs about that much) LOL....anyways i really want to go jet skiing this summer and i don't want to have to resort to sticking it in the back with the seats folded down and the tailgate up!
Pleeeese help
SPFRBOX 11-18-2003, 02:22 AM DRAW TIE IN THE CITY OF INDUSTURY WITH A DROP DOWN HITCH FOR LIFTED TRUCK WITH THE BALL IN THE UP POSTION. YOU CAN USE THE KIT FOR SMALL FORGIEN CARS. UNIVERSAL SMALL CAR

No advertised towing capacity, but if you leave the back seats empty you could pull a 500 pound trailer with a 100 pound tongue weight.
In the rear there are two big tiedown plates bolted to the body. You could use these with a cross-bar to attach a hitch. You could extend a small (1.5 inch square) receiver through the rear plastic apron for the ball. When you don't want the hitch, just remove the ball from the receiver and put a blank plate over the hole.

MiniHummer 11-21-2003, 05:35 AM If you do attempt to pull the trailer let us know how it works. Does anyone know if they are gonna release the truck. I saw the dealer brochure from japan for the bB there are a lot of different models

but that bb has 1  why can't i? :?
I know that i could put a receiver through the bumper, but that would look hella wack. Thats why i want one like the one in the picture...it comes from under the rear apron

Infiz 11-21-2003, 05:38 PM In Japan the bB also comes with a 4WD option, and has reliable turbo & superchargers available. 2WD w/ 93 WHP isn't going to tow much. Even if you could tow something, the little brakes on a Scion are designed for a super light car, not a car with a jetski behind it.
scionracerxb 11-22-2003, 02:39 AM but a jet ski is light....I'm not talkin bout one of those sea doos that seat 3 peeple, i'm talkin bout a kawasaki 650 stand up stlye jet ski. It can't weigh more than 400 lbs. and maybe another 100 for the trailer. Its possible to put four fat peeple in the car and add that much weight~

rallyxb 05-18-2004, 06:00 PM This is a re-post from
Dear Scion: Let us tow with our XB
After reading through a lot of posts on the web and technical specs from Japan, the Scion xB is based directly off the Toyota echo platform, and uses the exact same engine and transmission. Since the Toyota Echo is rated at a 1000+ towing capacity with a 100lb tongue weight, there should be no problem towing a lightweight trailer with a Scion xB.
. . .
The only reasons I can think of why they don’t recommend towing is because of the ground effects (no where for a tow hitch without cutting) and that they don’t want to be liable for transmission or engine problems if some crazy youth overloads a trailer and burns it up.
. . .
So, I am currently in the process of fabricating a trailer hitch for my xB. After photographic and measuring a Toyota Echo for comparison against my xB, I believe an aftermarket trailer hitch for an Echo may be a very, close bolt on fit. It is amazing how similar the vehicles really are underneath.
I’ll keep the group posted as things progress.

uhh, wes...
thats a kawasaki 440/550 not a 650.
being a watercraft mechanic for nine years, i can spot these things.
rallyxb 07-07-2004, 04:44 PM Yes, this is a duplicate post from another thread,
but I though it was important.
----------
I have finished building the trailer hitch for my xB.
I made it from 1 ¼ box tubing and existing 1 ¼ receiver parts arc-welded together.
The application is purely bolt on, so it can be removed at a later time.
The only cutting I had to do was a 2" hole through the rear bumpers ground effects, which can be covered by a plastic trailer hitch plug.
Total weight is 31 lbs and it strengthens up the rear bumper considerably.
Now I can use my trailer hitch mount bike rack!
I will post photos and details of the build when I get my digital camera working again.
:)
