Default windows + door locks issue

I recently removed both of my door panels to wire in some LED's (looks sweet btw). anyways, i went and reclipped the wires that had to be put back together and then reinstalled the panel. this evening comming home i tried to roll down the windows and only the driver side would go down. thinking i just had to reset it like you would when you disconnect the battery, i tried to roll it down from the passenger side when i was at a light. The window wouldn't move then when i got home i clicked the lock button on the key and only the driver side would lock.

would disconnecting the battery and resetting the whole car fix this problem or is there something else i have to do?

it talks about it in your owners manual on how to reset the windows and locks...check it out. Also it should return to normal within 2-3 days otherwise in the 05 (happened to me after i installed my CAI)

hmm.. sounds like the passenger side wasn't put back on tight enough.... open it up and check again.. that's my suggestion.

and yes.. removing those items will require you to reset the windows as well... but yeah.. seems like something is loose/disconnected on the passenger side.

Make sure you run the reset procedure in the manual.. disconnecting the battery will not do it necessarrilly. If that doesnt work.. disconnect everything you did and see if it works.. and my recommendation if you used the t-clips or something similar is to throw them in the trash, cut the wires, solder and heat shrink them. I only use soldered and heat shrinked connections on my stuff.. WAY more reliable.

well, the passenger side works now. I got kinda brave and decided to check if the motor for the window went whacko. I applied 12V to pins 1 and 5 of the window motor connector and it rolled down and then reversed the polarity and it rolled up. I then reclipped the connector and then the switch worked. Weird.

The door lock worked all of the sudden also.

thanks for the help :D

oh, and engifineer, i used butt connectors. are those alright?

They are better than the splice clip things. As long as they arent bent out of shape they should do ok.. but still run the risk of corroding and failing down the road. Solder is always the best bet if you dont need something you can disconnect often. A soldered connection seals the two connected points from oxygen, thus limiting corrosion inside the joint.

Glad you got it working again!

The same thing happens to me everytime I take off a door panel or disconnect the battery. What you must do is get the windows at the same exact level to reset them. Roll both windows all the way up. You may have to repeatedly tap and pull the buttons, but once they are aligned the will work as normal. The tech at Yota told me about this
