Well, I've been bored on my off days (the one I get per week) so here are some new, and some future mods.

Basically I'm trying to get stuff done by Heatwave, which is coming up in a couple of weeks.

I'll be hooking up some subs soon, and maybe get some HID's.

Got a couple questions?
I just ordered the Whiteline bar and thought it mounted like the TRD and Progress. From your pic I see thats not the case. Does it work being like that? It looks like a pain, being mounted to the shock bolt.
How much did the plexi run you. I wanted some but can't find any.

 

Yeah, the whiteline swaybar is a totally different design than other sways offered. It definetly works. I have basically ZERO body roll.

What helped with installation, was assembling the bushings, etc. together before installing. With the pre-assembly done, it took me about 45 min to get the bar installed.


And that hood bling is not plexiglass, it's stainless steel. There's just a plastic protection piece on it, which will be removed once it's mounted.

 

hayalex6, How hard is it to change out the springs with the Whiteline bar installed.

 

hmm, there might be a little more work to do, mainly just fanagling your way around the bar to get the springs in and out.

 

The more I look at it I'm thinking because you have to undo the shocks anyhow. You can just lower the bar out of the way and connect it back up after the shocks go back on.

 

are those overlays on your fogs? if so, where did u get them?

Chrome plug which I picked up at Lowes.

I sloshed on some silicone in the back to seal it up.

 

How does the stainless steel mount to the hood?

there are about 8 screws which go into the frame bracing under the hood.

Any tips on the wiper? Did you just detach the wiper, and put a plug in its place? Where in Lowes did you get the chrome plug??? Plumbing? Did you remove the motor too?

Any tips on debadging?

BTW, looks nice - I've got another project to add to the list!

 

Wiper removal -

All I did was remove the gray panel on the hatch, then there are 3 10mm bolts which hold the wiper motor on, there's also a wire harness which you unclip.

There is also a 10mm bolt which holds the wiper arm, take that off by first removing the black plastic peice, then you will see the wiper nut.

All you will have remaining is a black rubber grommet, which is removed by pushing from the outside of the car, inwards.

I bought the 1" chrome plug from Lowes in the Hardware department (screws, nails, etc.) There should be drawers of items underneath items which are hanging up. They also have a black nylon plug if you would rather want that.

Also remember to buy some silicone, either clear or black, and SMOTHER it on the back of the plug, sealing it completely up. Make sure silicone is not trying to escape on the outside of the plug.


For debadging, the best method I have found, is to first start off on a warm day (80's or so), then using a hair dryer, warm up the entire emblem. Then use some dental floss or fishing line, and in a sawing motion, proceed to "saw" off the glue.

While the adhesive is still warm, rub it off with your fingertips, then use some Bug & Tar rermover to get the remaining glue off.



Wiper removal - 5 min
Plug installation - 5 min (it takes 24 hrs for the silicone to completely set)


Debadging - well, first time I did it on my car, I was nervous, so it took like 20 min, now after have done it about 4 times on other people's cars, it takes about 5-7 min.

Remember to be nice to the badges. They come in handy later when you find other spots to put them.
On my plug I used that 3M stuff but left the tape on the side that touches the paint. It acts like a cusion so the paint doesn't get damaged by the plug. Then used the hardware that came with it to hold it in place. I also used on of the hubcap center badges and trimed it down to the size of the plug. It makes a nice smaller badge out of the plug.
