Default Question about AVN5435???

I just purchased an AVN5435 and i have a few question about the install. I've mainly only worked on my car performance wise and have no clue about audio video installs. I've heard that this unit is pretty much plug and play.

i'm just curious about splicing any wires or anything like that

1. should i try the install myself (is it easy enough to try) or pay a shop to do it

2. how do i wire the unit to play DVDs while driving.

thanks for the help

The install is relatively easy. Just take your time to do everything. Two most important things are:

1) Disconnect negative battery terminal to prevent short circuit.

2) If you remove the jacket from a wire, make sure you wrap it with electrical tape to prevent any short circuits.

The only truly hard part that I cant figure out is how to drill the mounting brackets. To play dvd's while driving just ground the parking brake wire. It makes the unit think the brake is on. Dont be scared to do the install, just be extra careful so you dont scratch the console. Also, dont let the unit sit on the shift **** as there are holes underneath that can mess up a chip or the PCB.

BTW, SL sucks a bit. Nobody replies, so i thought i'd help. Im going to try and do a DI =)
