Default Not loud enough?

I installed a 10" Kicker Competition in my tC recently w/an Alpine V12 MRV-T407
amp (everything else is stock)....it sounds nice, but it drowns out the sound of the music itself when I crank it up, even if I set the bass to -5 on the HU. How can I set it up so I can crank the volume up past even 40ish on the HU w/o the sub blaring so loud that it sounds nasty? and btw, I'm not quite sure how to adjust the settings on the amp (gain, etc.)

that will be what u need to find... look in the book for your AMP, or online, turn the gain down on your amp and it'll help... and i cant remember if stock h/u have a loudness option on it.. if it doesn turn it off... it'll help too

does the deck control the sub output seperate? If so turn the sub down via it... and like said before lower the gain on the amp

The main thing you need to do is turn the gain down until it the sub blends in with the rest of the system. This is also assuming you are using a line level converter from the stock head unit because that amp doesn't have speaker level inputs.

The other things to check are that the bass boost is off or turned all the way down and the built-in crossover is set to LP and the frequency set somewhere between 60 and 120 depending on your taste.

^ Exactly what I was going to say...Mess with the SSP. If I turn mine to Feel it's to much bass, so I just put it on Hear.
