Default Stickin' with the tC

After about 3 weeks of deciding whether or not to sell/trade-in my tC (after my moonroof blew up), I finally made the decision to keep the tC. I had a deposit down for a Honda Fit, but after assessing how much I would have to lay out in the end, the Fit would've cost me my tC plus roughly $3200. Just wasn't worth it. And when I really thought about it, there's nothing in the price range that affords the same mix of fun/practicality/luxury that the tC offers. So, I'm sticking around, and after making this decision this morning, I've been feeling really happy all day!! When I think about it, everytime I showed the tC to a potential buyer, I felt really remorseful inside.

Now, since I was willing to already budget $3200 to put into automotive purposes, I figure I can comfortably spend $500-$1000 on the tC and still feel like I came out ahead a couple of grand! What should I get? I'm thinking of maybe getting tints to start, though NY tint laws really suck. Maybe I'll do 50% sides and back for a subtle change without attracting the attention of the cops.

Anyway, so glad to be sticking with the Scion and the Scion community! Now hopefully my car won't try to kill me again!

50% TINT is barely anything.. tint here is like 200 bucks for all windows . i say you should maybe do coilovers or soemthing that would make your driving more enjoyable ;)

35% you can still see your face and thats kind of the rule of thumb according to cops in my area

Excellent. Thanks for the tips. 35% seems the way to go and it looks great IMO. I think NY law is 70% or more, which is why I originally figured I'd stick with a subtle tint. Either way, that's probably how I'll spend my first $200 or so, and then the next $300 will be for the 30K mile service. The rest I guess I'll just put back into savings!

carlb is right.....as long as they can see you and 35% is the darkest you can go with them still being able to see you.....5% would be nice but having to put your window down all the time...especially in the winter would suck.....

Cool, blaza. I don't wanna go too dark (just a personal preference), so I'll probably hit it up with 35%. Thanks.

If you got money, I think the best ever mod is probably sway bars for any car. When I test drove the Tc I knew that was one of the first things I had to do when I got mine. Ordering front and rear hotchkis sway bars. It'll definitely improve your ride... you can get them at trdsparks for 255... install them yourself... pretty easy.

it's really up to the cops... my friend with a Maxima with 20% was ticketed for tints in Bayside so..... ticketed only once and had tints for 3 years.

Definately get some sway bars. HUGE ride improvement. Even if you decide not to lower your car, definately upgrade the struts.

Hey, you go with what you can afford (For me, it's not much! ). And the Fit won't try to murder me like my tC.

And still have money to spare.

Okay, I expect to see your car tinted, lowered, and bared up in less than a week with pictures to show.
