Default Light weight pulleys vs Underdiven/Overdriven pulleys

I just put on my light weight flywheel and light weight crank pulley but ive been reading up on nst pulley kit. How much gain should i expect from the alternator and water pump pulleys? Are they worth investing.

Im trying to get the most gains while keeping my tC NA... i dont believe in force induction.

well... i just installed an agency pulley which is a light weight pulley instead of an underdrive and they spec about 11hp/11tq.. i can't see the NST putting much more than that... maybe a few hp... im defenetly happy with the pulley... and when it's time to replace the clutch im going the sameway you did...

well.. i can tell you how i did it.. it may make some people cringe... but it has worked for me on this car and my previous car.. jack the car up.. get your ratchet and if need be a tube to put on the end of the ratchet as an extension.. ok now rest the ratchet/extension "under" and "against" the a-arm... use a piece of wood if you need to, to hold it there... now.. "JUST" and i do mean "JUST" tap the ignition.. it will break the bolt loose.. then just use the ratchet to remove it..

you should look to see if one of your local autoparts has the correct tool to hold the crank pulley... that would be the preferred way..... autozone (if you have any near you) has a tool lending program.... but if you can't find it you can try what i did...

torquing it back on will be another issue.. if you have an automatic.. you defenently want to find the correct tool to hold the pulley... if you have a 5 speed have a freind put it in gear... release the clutch and step on the brake.. you will have to turn the ratchet /torque wrench alittle to take up all the slop in the clutch but it will eventually stop turninig and you can torque it down..

i was actually very suprised as to how much of a difference it made.. i already have a MMW header and that made a difference.. but together the car defenetly has more pull across the board... it has a nicer response than with the header alone.. my next purchase wil be a MMW short ram..

yeah.. i know.. the intake should have been one of the first things... but i already have the factory airbox moded so the intake could wait..

In a word, yes. All the NST pulleys are worth having. You bought your lightweight crank pulley because the weight reduction over the stock pulley gives you better throttle response, right? Well, every NST pulley is lighter than the pulley it replaces so according to the same theory you would see better and better gains as you continue to reduce weight.

Go to the following page and click on the definitions links at the left and do some more reading for yourself...

Ok so now a new question arises. NST's crank pulley is overdriven and their alternator pulley is underdriven... the crank pulley i have is light weight but not any smaller in daimeter than the stock one (Aluminum) Whats kind of belt should i use. I know that NST says what kind of belt you should use for THEIR kit but i have an acency crank pulley. I want to make sure i get the right size belt. The last thing i need is for it to start slipping, heating up and breaking.

NST offers both a lightweight crank pulley (like your AP one) and an underdrive crank pulley. Their alternator pulley is actually an overdrive pulley.

You use your stock belt if you get their alternator and water pump pulleys. You only need to change your belt if you use their underdrive crank pulley.

Get on aim and ask them for yourself to verify. Their screen name is NSTonAIM.
