Here in Puerto Rico, they do not use a decibel meter, they just think it is over the "right" amount of noise, and they give you the ticket, even if it is stock. Bunch of ....whatever.

how do they test ur exhaust with the decibel meter? Do they just test it at idle or do you have to rev for them or something?

Sometimes they make u Rev it, sometimes they just give you the ticket an on with your way. You can fight in court but you know how that is. If they see that your car is somewhat or seems modified (apply stupid comment by police here), even if it isn't they can give you the ticket. You may prove them wrong but that is just gonna make them mad and treat u even worse. Sometimes is just pure harrasment, IMO.

ah ok. thnks.
lol, could you like rev it really slow? and like make an excuse that you dont want to put any wear on the engine by reving it fast? Because my exhaust, if I rev it slow without mashing the pedal its a lot quieter then just flooring it quickly.

revving it slowly doesnt make a difference,,,it'll remain the same pitch at any RPM depending on which RPM it is. 1badtc...the tip won't make a difference really...all exhuasts so far for the tC are street legal and way under the legal decibel level as long as u don't eliminate the cat, have headers, or make the piping larger from the cat

i have a custom exhaust...

no secondary cat and no resonator leading to a magnaflow muffler which is hidden underneath the bumper then to a TRD looking tip..

its not too loud, and i like it that way because i have never had anyone bother me about it.. even if i floor it.. it gets a lil loud, but nothing has ever happened.

i think if you stick with magnaflow you should be okay, they are almost always deep and never too loud

I meant like slowly barely tapping the gas taking it to like only 3k. Yes there is a difference if you put the pedal to the ground real quick and let off then just slightly easing it. I know because ive done it.

Dude thats exactly what I have. Sounds nice dont it. It's a lil loud for my liking but its a nice deep tone and has a little bit of rumble to it like a WRX. I had the shop put the muffler in the middle of the car where the old resonator went. Then I had 2.5" piping from the header back.
