Default Unvdistc's Motor swap and performance install update8/25/07

Started my motor pull this Sunday. We got the old motor completely out. We have started to take the new motor apart for the internal work. I went ahead and ordered my intercooler, BOV, and boost controller to come with the turbo. (which should be here in the next two weeks). I'm going to get the rods on the pistons tomorrow at the machine shop. Here are just a couple of pics of the motor coming out. I will add the pics of the empty bay hopefully tomorrow. I hope to take a lot of pics during the process. I can't wait untill it is complete!!!!

PP Head, Emanage, turbo pistons 8.5.1, Rod bearings (main & rear), head gasket, head bolts, rear main seal

Pics of motor coming out!

Thanks ZPI!.. I'm glad I used my own judgment, instead of listening to the couple of ZPI haters, and just communicated with you and waited for my parts!!!! I got worried when I was reading all the junk being said.... but so far you have been good to me and I will always be a customer. I can't wait to get this car to the dyno and on the track!!!!!!

Well the car is finally done with the motor swap, port and polished head, 8.5:1 pistons, race bearings and paint!!!! I wish I could have took better pictures for you guys but when your turning wrenches the hole time it is hard to stop and take pictures. My turbo is in!!!!! We want to put about 1500 miles on the car before the install... this should only take me about a week or two. (i am still waiting on my intercooler which should be here any day!)

I'm going to do a dyno next week with these performance parts and before the turbo install.... i will keep you updated!

Enjoy!

Motor about to come out!

Man... just noticed you went ZPI too! AWESOME... Many props for the insane rebuild and ultimately awesome finished product...

Very Glad you, like me, got in contact with the right people and got to form our own opinions

My Build is going to be soon enough, but nothing to that level... Awestruck...

I just ordered some BFG drag radials 225/50/15 for my 15" steelies I have. I will run these for racing. I have two other 15" wheels also so might order some slicks for them. Then I will have two wheels with radials and two with slicks for the track.

Although we don't see eye to eye on the exterior of the car, THE ENGINE IS WHERE IT'S AT! Nice to know that there are some bad a$$ ZPI powered customer cars rolling around.

not really on SL much anymore. Did you end up going with the ZPI head swap? I'm interested to see results if you did.

good to see ZPI products ending up in badass projects they were intended for.

Yeah I went with the stage 1 port and polished head, I did a three angle valve job, 8.5:1 compressions turbo pistons, racing bearings. Obviously I did the valve job but all the performance parts came from ZPI..

I have been driving the car with the motor rebuilt and these items on... it is running awesome. it feels like i have the power I had before with nos, but not using it now. I am going to dyno it without the emanage but with nos next week.

Items left to install include the Emanage, Turbo, and intercooler..... extras like boost guage and boost controller. I have all these items sitting in my garage just waiting!!!! (intercooler on the way)

I will post numbers next week. I will be doing a dyno after the complete install also. I will run the nos at the dyno with turbo but probably won't run it much while driving..... definetely will be tuned at the track to use it!!!!
