Default DIY: Change the headlight bulbs

ok here is how to change the headlight bulbs. it takes about 5 mins to do and is worth it to upgade. i have silversatrs and love em. anyways here they go

Step 1: locate the back of the headlight

step 2: just unplug the harness from the lightbulb

step 3: just pull the rubber protector form around the bulb. (its kinda hard to get off but it will come off)

step4: there is a retainer clip, just squeeze the sides together and it will flip down.

step 5: just pull out the bulb and replace it.

Now just reverse the steps and your done!!!!
hope that helps!!!!!!

I changed out my headlights with Sylvania Silverstars two days ago. My dad wanted to do it so I let him. He started on the passenger side (the easiest side) and to my surprise i saw him unscrew the part where the retainer clip pops out. I explained to him he didn't need to do that to get the bulb out. Anyways, that created a headache cuz the silver thing that goes in front of the bulb fell into the headlight compartment and he used a wire type of thing to hook it and get it. He also had trouble on putting the retainer clip back in where it was before. This took fooooorever, especially since it got dark. Anyways, I did the driver side and all you gotta do is squeeze the retainer clip inward and it'll pop out. It takes a couple of tries but don't worry, you won't cause any damage.

Edit: Oops, sorry, I didn't know you were talking about the harness. I think it should just pull right out (I didn't really pay attention how I did that). When you pull make sure you DO NOT pull from the wires.

$39.95 for silverstars at Walmart.

Nice upgrade!!

Passenger side was easy-Driver side is very tight due to electrical parts.

Default Good pics and explanation. Key Tip***small hands, skinny fingers

More than small hands. Long, skinny fingers, is the best for the driver side light. I fixed my wife's car today in the ZERO degree morning at her office garage. Big mistake with the temp, because that rubber donut is a pain in the cold. A tip to removing the donut. Use a phillips head screwdriver to poke in (lightly) into the rubber, and pry out. No need to grab it or anything with your hand. Swapped out the passenger side first to get a feel for the procedure. Fine...had to take the rubber into my heated and running car to warm up the very dense donut. Once softened, it sort of went back on. A little silicone grease (don't use petroleum based lubes, as they permanently soften rubber ) would have done the trick.

Part II: the driver side. Took off the fuse box cover. thought about removing fuse box, thought about removing battery. thought about removing whole light housing...all because my hands did not fit the space. Solution: call wife who is working inside warm building . Explain problem to very mechanical wife. (((((BINGO)))) wife had it done in a few minutes . Game over.
