Default why do koni and tokico cost so much.

Hmm good question..lol i don't know why they cost so much. i know they are great performance products. i guess our cars are still new and the products are still new so they're charging alot? i don't know. i guess its "you get what you pay for" kind of thing..koni offers life time warranty on their products so i like that. i bought the koni yellows and i love them. they are by far the best struts/shocks i have ever used. i like the ability to adjust too. i kind of hated the fact that koni's are only inserts for the tC but oh well...still good struts. tokico on the other hand is not an insert, its a full replacement sooo i guess thats good.

the yellows are geared for performance which is why they have damper adjustment.

Default struts

Yah i bought them, i bought them threw shox.com they had a decent price..wasn't really cheap it was like $550. it was expensive but i think it's worth every penny. if u wanna wait till the price goes down..just wait they'll go down in time. the only reason i bought everything at once was because i did my whole suspension at one time..i didn't wanna pay for the spring install then come back later and pay for the strut install, then my strut bars..and so on..i bought everything and did it all at one time so i could save more money on the install.

Default Struts So expensive

Yah i was thinkin of doing the job myself but me..Im...lazy... but anyway i had a mechanic that i've been working with for quite some time..and for everything springs, struts, strut bars...he did it all for $200 ...i mean i think thats good considering that i've seen some people pay $100 just for spring install...and plus with the koni yellows you have to cut and insert ..which is a pain in the butt isn't it?

$200 is a GREAT price to install springs, struts, and strut bars.

Another reason to get the Koni's over other lower priced options:

lifetime warranty.

Not that a bad a price to pay, especially if one othe struts eventually fails!

Also, Brian, it's kinda a pain to install the Koni's. It's easier to let a shop handle it, mostly b/c the stock struts have to be cut and drained. I would've liked to do mine myself but I don't have the space in my garage to do it. Anyway, stcx86 got a good deal on the install it seems.

Monroe's are only stock replacements, they're not quite the performance upgrade as the others

You will always pay more for an adjustable set of performance shocks than non-adjustable. Also, High-performance shocks and struts will usually cost more than stock type replacements.

Usually high performance shocks and struts are made to work with the higher spring rates that are associated with lowering springs. They also have more aggressive or sporty valving for better handling. A stock replacement type of shock and strut is usually more geared to stock spring rates and good ride than to performance handling.

I am not familiar with the Monroes you mention, but they usually make good quality stuff.
