Default problems with 3 jl12w0 wired in paralell...

ok so got 3 lj 12w0 wired in paralell going to a audiobahn A800T 2 channel amp bridged. so at first got everything working but then the fuse holder somehow melted, then relaced that and no power. ruled it out as a short, pulled the 8 guage wire and relaced w/ 4 guage. it all worked but then again stopped working. this time, fuse holder is ok as well as all conections. the amp just wont turn on. now on the audiobahn site, it says that the amp is not stable at 1 ohm and on the jl site it says that when u wire 3 of these badboys in paralell, it brings the resistance doen to 1.33 can this be a factor? what can be reasons that the amp is not working? this is becomming a nightmare so someone please help. thanks.

Like you said, the amp can not do a 1ohm load. Hopefully the amp had a protection circuit that shut it off, otherwise you may have ruined your amp.

Try wireing just 2 of the 3 speakers in parallel and see if you have success.

the thing that has me confused is that everything was working before. right when we did all of the connections, it all worked and it was the next day that it stopped working.

Low ohm means low resistance.
That means high current flow because nothing is stoping it.

The problem with that is that the amplifier overheats from use.
Too much power that the heatsinks and components cant handle.

It usually wont happen the second you turn it on unless the amp is very cheap or acutally senses the resistance and turns itself off.

series is the only other way... but then you're going to have very little power going to them with that same amp...

a better question would be "Can someone recommend a better amp to use?"

anything that'll do about 600x1@1ohm...

why cant you wire two of them in series and the third one parallel to the other two. that will give you 2.6 ohms. the way i see it the amp doesn't know how you have it wired, it just sees a resistance load on the output. I might be wrong but in theory it sounds good. try it and see what happens

It should work fine. However I dont think the load will be equal between all the drivers. Its been too long and I'm too lazy to look it up hahah.

im going to give that a shot tomorrow. i think it should be ok if one driver is getting a little less power since the box has shared airspace. ill let u guys know how it goes.
