Default Last Gen MR2 engine swap

Hey,

I am not sure what the turbo mr2 engine from the last generation, i know is a great car. If you guys have info on this engine, do you think it would fit on a scion, even though is a MR layout. Would you think this is a good idea???

It's a 2nd gen 3S-GTE engine. You're better off getting the engine off of a Celica All-Trac since the 3S-GTE engine in the MR2 is designed for a MR layout. It all depends on what car you're planning on dropping the engine into. I would estimate the cost for the swap would be up to or more than $10,000 if you're going to let a shop do it.

True that. But some of the most fun things I have done in my life have been really stupid! I hope to get crazy stupid with my xB.

Which 1.8L you're talking about? 1ZZ-FE or 2ZZ-GE? What car you wanna drop it to? What would be your goal with the engine?

People want to do it because they like the car, not the engine. Some people didn't buy this car for the cheap cost, they bought it cause they liked it

At the risk of sounding rude: Should people even answer these questions? If someone is asking, what is the likelyhood of them being able to perform the swap? Enjoy your ride, spruce it up with upgrades till your confident that you A) need more power & exhausted most practical solutions and B) have the know how to perform such an action. Like I said, not to be rude, or burst any bubbles, but just being realistic.

yeah, we all here have to be realistic...what is the actually chance that someone is going to do this
? If there is someone out there....awsome....but im thinkin most of us are just "curious"...again, not trying to bash anyone, i ahve thought about it myself..in the new MotorTrend magazine the cover has a 500 hp Ford Focus..its just as fast as the new Lambo..but they took the 13000 sticker and brought it up to 110,000.

I agree, curious. I sure would like to see a RWD bB with the Toyota Alteza 2.0 Turbo engine. I don't know if anyone else remembers, but when Toyota was talking about bringing over the bB, they were originally saying it would be with the 180hp Celica GT-S 1.8 motor. But I guess that would've made it's price go thru the roof.
