Default 4500 mile trip to alaska. many pics, finished

well, I got to go to the new base, the rally xb is traveling from Orange,Texas to Anchoage, Alaska. Its about a 4500/4800 mile trip, our first stop was in Cushing ,OK. The second stop, were we are resting now, is Limon, CO. Pretty place. Another 500 miles tommarow. Were pullin a small trailor, and pulling 31MPG while driving a average o 68 MPH and 2800RPM. we stop every about every 240 miles to refill the tank, 8 gallons every time .Sure traffic passes alot, but hey, the looks the car gets is priceless. Ill keep posted if the next hotel has wireless connections. lata yall.

Hello from NE TX!!!!

Quick question....where did you get wiring harness for trailer lights? I just ordered a reciever hitch for my xB, and am having a hard time finding the harness.

Thanks in advance!!

I love the setup you have with your xB. Sounds like a great trip. I went to Alaska when I was about 7 years old with my parents and want to get back badly. Had a great time and it is beautiful up there. Make sure you take lots of pics!

claybo1708, We picked up the converter at walmart in their trailor area. Its a toyota converter/harness. Its worked with no problems.

Today we managed to pull of a amazing 35MPG!!!! i think it was after filling at a higher altitude, we went down the other side, and didnt have to use the gas to much, every now and then to make a steep hill, over drive kicked it.

Once we hit Canada, im gonna take more pics, and a few here in montana, where we are now, billings, montana. ill keep yall posted

Thanks, Rallying....I'll check Wal-Mart and see if I can find that item. I checked w/Redneck Trailer Supply here is Sulphur Springs today, and they have a converter from Redline that gets it's power directly from the battery and it just "quick connects" to the existing wiring. Normally about $50+, but can get it for just over $30.

Thanks again for the reply!!!

im heading for Elmendorf AFB. Ive been there, but that was along time ago, about this same time of year. Really cant wait to get there.

The converter i got goes to the exsisting wires going to the tail lights, you have to remove the 2 small side panels, theres the wiring, we ran it down under the spare, theres a plastic sheild under the carpet, it runs under that to a rubber insert. Cut a slit in it and attatched it to the rear bumper. took say maybe a hour or less to install, and was VERY easy. I had to add the small light on the rear of the trailor to see it at night, i have the lights on the rear roof, but if some one is behind me, i dont want to flash them with the lights.

I was born and raised above the arctic circle and have been to Anchorage many times. Have fun and be careful on the Alaska highway. Buy a copy of the "milepost " for the trek through AK.

If i run into the pipe line, ill take some pics and post them up. They must not sell scions up here, people are always asking what it is, who makes it, gas milage, and it gets stared at ALOT. Ive seen 4 Smarts, 1 lambergini, and 1 farari (SP), but no xBs.
