Still waiting on my box, 1-month anniversary, Rant Rant!
It was time for newer cars for the wife and I. She goes to the dealer, puts her hand on a 04 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 and she drives it away the next day.
I on the other hand had done much researching and thinking and of course chose an xB to replace my 96 Chrysler LHS.
I wanted a good deal on a used one. It had to be unmolested, all maintenance records and have an automatic at about $250/mo for 5-yrs. I chose to go with e-bays finance center as I could buy from a seller or any licensed dealer in the USA.
I received my blank check on 6-19-06. It has an expiration date of 8-1-06. I found my xB on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT and won the bidding 1 month ago today, the 25th of June.
HSBC is eBays financial arm. They have been a pain in the rear to deal with. They are in the process of moving from California to Texas so they are having problems.
I was told the whole process of buying should take a little over a week as the seller has a lien through Toyota Financial.
I got an e-mail from HSBC detailing where we are now. #4 on the list was not what I wanted to hear. It is as follows:
“ 4) Keep the Bill of Sale. When we receive the title from the lienholder,
which will take approximately four (4) weeks, we will send it immediately
to you. At that time, you need to take the title with the Bill of Sale to
your local DMV to file your paperwork. Please note that we can not get the
title faster as we are waiting on the previous lienholder to send it to us
first.”
4 WEEKS!!! A little over a week seems to be turning into 2 months!
I called HSBC and they said it shouldn’t take that long.
I would tell them to stick it but I owe the seller some respect as he is the one who has had to jump through hoops to please HSBC.
Long story short(er), I just sent the check out to Toyota to pay off the Lien on Friday the 21st. Toyota has until 8-1-06 to cash the check.
If Toyota blows it and doesn’t get the check cashed and the seller still wants to finish the deal I will go to my bank and get it done!
Thanks for letting me vent somewhere!!

I would wait patiently if it was a new one but it's not. It’s 300 miles from me and the only thing holding up the show is paperwork and peoples ability to process it promptly.
If my xB was on a boat from Japan it would be new and worth the wait.

I just hope there were no Scions on the ship that is leaving 500 vehicles in the bottom of the Pacific ocean. Yes, 500 vehicles coming from Japan are heading to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. I hope they are not Scions.
I mentioned this in another thread here.. but I learned patience by pre-ordering an SVT Focus 10 months before they were released. I literally dropped off a $500 check at the dealer on June 20th 2001 and got a call on April 20th 2002 that it had arrived and was prepped and ready to be picked up. All the while spending hours a day on a site very similar to Scionlife but dedicated to the Focus. Talk about bordering insanity by the arrival date. ;)
unfortunately... I suspect there is a large contingent of scions that are new homes for the fish,
the "floating parking lots" transport all makes on the same boat.
If you do lose your "ordered car" in this mess..get a claim filed with the steamship line...on top of whatever the dealer offers.
