Ok, so i was surfing this forum, and i was just pulled over for 19% tint, exaclty 14 days ago he pulled me over (same dude) for 20% tint.
He gave me a ticket this time, and its 83 bucks. Not to be a jackass, but i go to unni, and its finals week and i really had no time to go get this taken care of.
And i was wondering, if i drive all the time with my windows down, can the SAME DUDE pull me over for suspicion, cause he is letting some people slide, and tagging only certain groups.

I live in New York and I was involved in a car accident about a month ago. I was making a left turn on a left green arrow and was hit in my rear tire well and bumper on the passenger side by a driver who was not only speeding, but also ran a red light. There are no witnesses to the accident, and each of us were alone in the car.
The cop who responded to the emergency call was very nice, but made more than a handful of mistakes on the police report. When I picked up the report, I pointed out the errors to a cop that was on duty and asked if he would tell me whether or not the report showed that the other woman was at fault. That officer explained that "driver #1" is typically at fault....which is the woman that hit me. Is this a rule across the board, or does it vary by precinct?
My other question is in regards to an amended report. I went in to meet with the original officer who took the report, and it was amended with most of the corrections that I requested, mainly because the accident description was simply "vehicle 1 was involved in accident with vehicle 2." I claimed I had a green arrow, and she claimed she had a green light. On the amended report, the officer wrote "Both drivers claim they had a green light", which isn't necessarily true. Also, as a side note....the woman's airbags deployed, and that is not listed on the report either.
I hate to pick on the little things, but I feel that these little errors are going to effect my claim with the insurance company and i'm very concerned because my car has $7000 in damages, and I was just informed that the woman (AND her husband who wasn't even involved), is suing me for 1.1 million dollars claiming that she is permanently disabled.
Sorry for all the extra information...not sure if it really applies to my question or not.
Basically, I just want to know those two things:
1 - On a police report for an accident, is driver #1 considered at fault?
2 - Minor errors on a police report....should the report be amended an additional time? Is that even possible to do so?
Thank you for all of your advice....I've been following the thread for quite some time now, and have gained some great information from it....just never needed to ask any specific questions until now :)

The report should actually state who was at fault. At least in Ct driver #1 isn't considered at fault just because he/ she is listed as Driver #1.
The person who received the ticket is at fault. If you received a ticket you better make sure that she got one too since at this time it's your word vs Hers.
As far as injuries goes did an ambulance arrive on scene and taker her away? Was she consious, talking and walking around when the police arrived? I would make sure that those details are placed into the report. Looks like the cop who took the report invited himself to court in this matter.
Amend as many times as possible and make sure its done correctly.

In Ct underage drivers get the same charges that adults get. There are some extra things we do like call owner of vehicle if your driving moms car. Or notify parents of driving conduct and see iof parent wants anything else done.
As far as DUI qwe have the Zero Tolerance public act. If I smell any alcohol on your breath or you show any signs of intoxication I can pinch you. No field sobriety test needed. Also the BAC levels are lower for underage drivers.

Operating w/ nolicense by persons under age 16
and any other offenses you are eligibile for plus
If an adult let oyu use the car they will be cvharged too. If they claim you took the car with out their permission you'll get charged for taking the vehicle with out owners permission (It's like a stolen MV case but a lesser class chgarge)

admit you let your 15 year old take your car and get charged, or deny it and put the charges on your kid
moral of the story: keep your keys far away from your children!
question: eligible for plus? does that mean not being allowed to get license untill a higher age?

12-11-2005, 12:00 PM
In Ct you'll get issued a 300 series license number which mans that even though you don't have an actuall license you will still be under suspension status. Thay way if you get a license in the near future it will automaticly placed under suspension due to the 300 series identifier.

My younger brother went to jail for driving without a license. He had no ID on him whatsoever. The car was registered in my name and I was in the car with him (as were two other licensed drivers). No charges were filed against anyone other than him. Our parents had to pick him up from jail.
Neither of us ever got caught for driving with only a permit... :lalala:

radar JAMMERS - you said you know when someone is using a jammer, but is it a trait you've learned to pick up while on the job, or is it a taught class (therefore every police officer knows how to spot a jammer) -- also can the cop search your car on the spot for such devices?

Some states it varies i got Pulled over in Ny with a California Plate mind you i was only 9 miles over the limit i didn't lose any points but my insurance raised my rates so that is something you also may consider.
Some states like California also offer traffic school to eliminate that ticket ,one ticket only a year . Ny on the other hand offeres it but still nails you with the points on you licence .

Your on the list too!
I Passed that test in a breeze 89 % .
But you expect to become a law enforcement officer so you have to obey the laws .Everyone gets speeding tickets ,Trying to play the trump card that your going to be an officer doesn't work . You have to sit and wonder how many times He has heard that ! But even being an officer doesn't get you off the hook either It's more of a proffessional Courtisy Which can also get that officer in trouble. You will learn more about this in the Academy .
You still have the right to appeal the Ticket If he hadn't already lowered the Speed . He may drop the Noise one or may not so my best advice is to appear at court see if he will listen to reason but also meantion that you plan to plead guilty . He may also not show up which gets you off .Don't always count on it though . Good luck .

I live in NY and cant find a thing about the 930pm-930am no music rule. Perhaps it is a local law? The only statewide laws regarding audio and vehicles are the following.
NYS VAT S375 24a
"It shall be unlawful to operate upon any public highway in this state a motor vehicle, limited use automobile, limited use motorcycle or bicycle while the operator is wearing more than one earphone attached to a radio, tape player or other audio device."
NYS VAT S375 47a
"It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or cause to be operated, an audio amplification system which is operated in, installed in or powered by a vehicle which generates an A-weighted sound level in excess of seventy dB (A) measured at, or adjusted to, a distance of twenty-five feet from the vehicle which is driven, standing, or parked on a public highway, or within one hundred feet of a public highway unless that system is being operated to request assistance or warn of a hazardous situation. This section shall not apply to authorized emergency vehicles or vehicles operated by gas, electric, communications or water utilities. This section shall not apply to the sound systems of vehicles used for advertising, or in parades, political or other special events, except that the use of sound systems on those motor vehicles may be prohibited by a local authority by ordinance or local law."

In California, the packaging for the liscence plate cover will say "For Off Road Use Only". That's the "illegal part" phrase in CA. Just go to Walmart and look at the packaging of stuff in the automotive dept.
It's a way for companies to sell illegal parts or parts that can't be put on a street legal car but still be able to sell the products in retail outlets.
It's just like in South Park when Jimbo and Ned go hunting. They just shout out "IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US" and they can kill anything they like in or out of hunting season, endangered species, etc.

I don't know if you're active in the forums anymore, but either way I appreciate the 32 pages of invaluable knowledge you have provided thus far.
Anyhow, a few questions.
1. If i were to tint my tail lights, would I really recieve that much flack for it?
2. Also, how many times would they issue me a "fix-it-ticket" for the same violation before moving to more drastic measures? Does the fine increase with each ticket? Any license points involved?
-- I live in Northwest Florida, if that changes anything.
3. Would the use of these (http://jlevistreetwerks.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=321&osCsid=9c36cc3b6bc3d6755cdc29224f42ab49) puddle lights be legal? I think you may have discussed this somewhere... but I can't find it. Something about wiring them to turn signals and utilizing the clause of "extra turn signal"? Would they be legal to run all the time? They're white...
4. Are cops allowed to ticket you for loud music, exhaust, etc. without using a sound-reading device? i.e. would their ability to "know" that it is too loud hold up in court? Wouldn't that be speculation? Witness testimony by a layman.
5. On a scale of 1-10, how fullfilling would you rate your job? My cousin is considering law enforcement after his 4 year commitment to the army Rangers.
6. If you could pick any other career, what would it be?
Thanks in advance, and I truly wish the best for you and your family.
Drive safely.

There are so many posts in this thread i didn't feel like looking through all of them so here is my question. I live in NC. Is it legal to remove the amber turn reflectors out on my xB? I still have an amber bulb but they're Silverstars which appear to be blue when not lit up. I've heard it's not illegal as long as they light up amber or white. I have seen people with red turn signals.
Also when i got my front windows tinted the guy would only do 20% i think. But i see people around with way more than that all the time. Why don't they ever get pulled over? How expensive are the tint testing devices for PD's to buy? How many does your PD have?
One more: If i am asked to do the blow test, and the cop says i'm under the limit, do i have the right to see the result?
NyteFyter
05-10-2006, 12:36 PM
I cannot speak to the law in either NC or FL so I cannot help with specifics in those states.
Here in NY:
I can't think of anybody who wouldn't tell you what your breathalyzer results are - it's either a congratulations or a you're under arrest.
The sound statutes are generally written to involve both decible levels and audible from a distance of.... So all the cop has to do is hear you beyond the distance and the statute is enforced.
Tint meters are fairly inexpensive and becoming more and more popular as particular members of the criminal element are tinting windows to avoid observation of what is happening inside the car (remember, there are other people in the world beyond those who want cars that look good and go fast - unless you are somebody who dislikes the police, in which case it is, in fact, all about you).
I like the job but not the politics - could really do without the political whohaw.
If I could do any other job it would likely have to do with information security and cyber investigations in a private setting (much more leeway in my investigatons if I wasn't a government agent).
Hope that helps.

Yessir, thanks. I haven't been pulled in years(I behave) but if i do i would roll all my windows down alll the way and have my hands on the wheel....if not out the window. Always make sure to put a thumb print on the rear of the vehicle you're stopping. I don't dislike police at all. I just don't like it when they get nervous ,apathetic, or i see them doing something they shouldn't. Or not doing something they should. I feel ya on the politics. If not for that i might've been a cop.

Well, if your friend reported the car stolen and the "suspect" who has the car shows the cop that he "has" the vehicle's registration and insurance card, but then the thief would also have to show the officer his driver's liscence.... yeah unless your friend and the thief are look-alikes with the same name or maybe the thief was really sophisticated and had a fake driver's liscence made up with his pic over and your friend's name.... I would say that they're at least going to be arrested.

OKay, here's the story:
I was driving back from work (about 1a.m.), I take the same route every night.
I knew there was roadwork at the time. (91S airport rd exit). I saw a work zone ahead sign at the turn on the highway. It was a wide turn and therefore no police could see that I was even coming. Granted I was going faster before but at the turn I was already slowing down (had 55mph at the time). Here's the problem:
I received a ticket for going 72. I agree I was driving that speed but 1/8mile before the sign/turn. There was another officer on the other side of the highway. He caught me with laser, as it is not possible for the one that happened to be on my side of the highway behind the turn.
So I;m thinking the officer from the other side of the highway took my speed reading, but that was before the sign.
The officer that pulled me over wasnt the one taking the reading!!! no way no how. He was already starting to drive when I made that turn (already slowed down)
EEh... So I got a ticket at 72mph in a construction zone(which is 45.....).... $203 dollars, cuz he said He wouldnt count it as construction zone ticket. I guess because he took it before it, so his hands are clean.
Can I fight this somehow??? I didn't speed in the construction zone, okay maybe 5mph.... but not 27 for freaks sake.... Especially since I drive there every night and for past couple days I knew there was police and workers there...
NOT LOGICAL AT ALL>
Any idea how to fight this??? I pleaded not guilty, but idk what will happen if I go to court.
I'm 21 that'll be my first ticket.. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

is there anyway a judge could order the cop to have a video presented since those fords you guys drive have a camera mounted all the time? or would you guys say "the video gets deleted after an incident" like a real cop a$$hole?
