Default ATX help w/ brakes

hey guys, my girl's corolla has really crappy brakes, and i would do change them out but since i moved i dont have the lift or allot of my car tools. pluse my apartment complex dosnt allow me to do any type of maintenance on cars.

does anyone know a good place to get brakes done in austin? we took it to her toyota dealership and they quoted her $400 for the front and a seperate $400 for the back, its rediculus, but does anyone know a shop that willl do brakes and wont be as expensive

you should really think about changing the rotors
or at least get them measured and cut (if they can be cut)

a lot of modern brake systems use rotors that are pretty thin to begin with....they may be too thin to cut properly and get a good finish

Just Brakes will repalce front and rear (with decent quality) pads (and machine rotors if you need it) for $100. If you are mechanically inclined, you should be able to pick up good break pads (F&R) for $80 and install yourself, or get some vatozone pads for ... $30? They'll be crap pads, but they will work and be cheap.

I can help out. I would change the pads for you. I even have a set of xB pads and I think they are the same part. I cannot turn your rotor's though. I guess I could call and see if a brake service could come by. PM me if you are intrested. I have a house and garage with tools. No lift though.

hey I missed an install party? damn. make sure and let everyone know about stuff like that, so we could have a big get together and install some parts. I need to get my hood mirror in and my shifter in, as well as some rotors.

I can do it all myself, but it's fun getting together and helping out.

well i asked, and tim was the only one that offered, it was for my girls car, she needed brakes bad, but next time maybe more people could respond so we can make it an install meet; but i dont think that tim's place is big enough
