Default Got a 06 XB Auto, want to accessorize on approx $1000

Hey everyone, awesome forum here i've been reading up on alot of stuff and it's been very very helpful.

I'll be getting my 2006 xb auto (stock) in abt 3 weeks cuz i ordered the onyx blue.

On 1000 dollars here's what i hope to do

Get:

Subwoofer (budget approx 250-300 w/ install)
Rear Spoiler (Can get for like 230 on ebay)

With the rest i want to get:
Some kind of security...
Some sort of interior underdash and cupholder lighting
Plate Frames
Chrome exhaust tip
Floormats
Plate Pedals

I can spend around 1000-1200 all together.

Heres my questions, is it reasonable to get all this in that price range?

Is there anything i've listed that i want that people think is a total waste?

My main questions are what kind of subwoofer to get thats the best in that price range and what the best kind of security i can get on a limited budget is.

Sorry for the long winded post, just very excited and i dont want to make any mistakes.

Thanks in advance,

Keep the boxes movin!

John

chrome exhaust tip is a waste in my opinion. might as well just get a good exhaust system.

floormats you can get carpet pieces from any store such as KMart, Marshalls, etc ... to use. approx $20 for 4.

plate pedals, do you mean pedal covers or replacement pedals ?

security will be approx 200-700 depending on the features you are looking for in the system. viper systems are well known, though maybe a bit expensive ?

underdash and cupholder will be maybe 50 bucks if you do the install yourself.

plate frames ... eh ... only if it completes your look.

subs i'm not all that familiar with.

If you're jonesing for cheap OEM goodness, you can try scionpartspeople or trdsparks.

If you've got around $1200 get a decent set of rims and some lowering springs. way better than all the stuff you mentioned. just my opinion.

or you can get the randode kits if your either 1. lazy or 2. have no idea about electronics

if your just lookin for a basic alarm check out the hornet 727t its made by DEI (who also makes viper). the alarm is a keyless entry upgrade system so it uses the factory remotes which i personally think is a plus

So you have a bottom line budget of $1200, but you would like to keep it under $1000?
Most of the stuff you listed was just ticky tacky slap on goodness. Or badness depending on your point of view.

For the subwoofer I would order an 11Kv.2 and a NINe.2 from www.edesignaudio.com/groupbuy.php If you aren't comfortable ordering online, just give them a call and ask for Chris. He will likely be the one to answer anyway. Tell him you are from Scionlife, and what you want to order. You simply can't beat the performance for brand new, warrantied sound equipment for $240.

You can then have an enclosure custom built locally, or by Elemental Designs. Also, email the guys at http://www.quarterwavedesigns.com and find out if they are shipping their down firing under seat enclosure for the xB yet. This is what I installed in the wife's xB and it sounds excellent. All in all look to spend around $400-$500 installed.

So your budget is pretty much half gone, but you would have never been satisfied with a subwoofer and amp that only cost you $300 installed. But lets take a look at the rest of your list.

The wing. Do you really need it? That is a pretty big chunk of change that could go to good use elsewhere. Let's assume you could skip it for now.

While you are getting your stereo stuff installed, have the same shop install an alarm for you. Depending on how extensive you get, this could eat up the entire rest of your budget. You can figure around $300 installed. Leaving you with $200-$400. Still quite a bit you could do.

You said floor mats are a necessity. You can pick up universal mats just about anywhere pretty cheap. Or you can order the OEM stuff from TRDsparks.com Expect to pay a little over $50 for just the floor mats and just over $100 for the floor and cargo mats.

Then as was mentioned you can get the cold cathode lighting from randode.com for $110 shipped in your choice of color. Leaving you with just under $200 to spend. I would skip the rest of what you listed and order a set of drop springs. If you want mild go with Tein H Tech or Tanabe NF210. If you want a lower drop go with Tein S Tech or Tanabe DF210. (The Tanabe DF210 being the lowest.)

Have fun with your build, and don't blame us when the addiction bug hits.

If you can do all the installations yourself, you can do it for your budget. You can see that the dealer charges for some of those items at Scion.com. You can get them all cheaper online, but not all owners can install some of them very well.

I don't know about the sound and security, but I think those two could take most of your budget, if you are not able to install them yourself.
I don't recommend installing the spoiler yourself as it involves critical drilling of thick metal layers.
The cars come with a thin chrome tip. You can get a Valor stainless steel tip for $50 from NewScionParts.com (Carson Toyota). It has a substantial double-wall appearance and will not require you to insulate the back of the car. The OEM exhaust already has a discrete growl.

Randode.com has the cheapest floor lighting, but says it is ten times as bright as the OEM kit from ScionWarehouse, if brightness is what you need.
Plate frames are $25-30, but your dealer will probably put his on free, and you can sand off the white paint on the lettering and no one can tell the difference.
OEM floor mat sets are $55 from ScionWarehouse.com.
Pedals are less there, too.

Me?
I would do this:
Wheels
Springs
Cold Air Intake
Headder
Exhaust
That might put you a bit over a grand, but thats what I would do.

I am about to get a lip kit myself.
Wheels are on the way.
Already did the Cathodes myself.
(easy as pie and very inexpensive. Go to www.oznium.com , buy their 12" cathode kits, go to the tech section of this site and look up the installation. You can get an OEM style rocker switch from Lowes or Home Depot that pops right into the dash blanks right above the cigarette lighter. You will have to remove the clipped in pieces and replace it with the rocker switch.)

Anyways, I would buy anything from the dealer.
I got mine BONE STOCK! no spoiler, no floor mats, no "iPod" jack, nothing. Wait I got cruise istalled, but you can buy a kit online for that too. Save yourself $$$$!!!

PM me if you cant find it.
