Default Most Miles on Stock Clutch

I was wondering who has the most miles on a stock clutch?

I have 25k right now with alllot of launches and no slippage at all. Probably close to 70 time slips. I'm guessing it should be going soon but it still feels like it did on day 1.

Anyone pass the 50k mark with their stock clutch yet? If so, are you hard on the car at all?

A decent clutch with a decent driver should go upwards of 100k or more without racing. Mine always have. But, when I get on mine it is usually in the twisties, not straight line racing. If you are racing it, it is hard to tell.

I replaced my last cars clutch at 120k or so.. and could have gone longer. The tC is at 32k right now.

my tc is at 50200 miles on OEM clutch. Plenty of racing/back road spirit drives.

It's good to hear someone has made it to 50k without replacing it.

I know it's a great mod if you do replace it, but it's very pricey.

My '94 Crayola had 148+k on the original clutch and I learned to drive 5SP on it.... When I bought it from the dealer it had ~50k on it so I doubt it was changed before I bought. I thought it was still OEM as there were no records indicating otherwise.

It's still a Toyota... so unless you're doing tranny drops and poppping the clutch like hell or riding it, you should be okay for 100k+...

Agreed, the only reason I changed my last cars clutch was because I was moving and it had high miles, so I wanted to take advantage of the lift and full shop of my dads to swap it out then.. rather that using jack stands and a garage later

I'm very easy on a clutch, with about 32 years of drivin experience -- even extremely hard launches produce very little wear for me. I'd be surprised if I had to put one in before 100,000 miles, and wouldn't be surprised if I got close to 200,000.

Believe it or not, you can get extremely good launches with very little clutch wear -- although the horrible throttle delay on the tC makes it harder to do.

If you are a good driver there is no reason why it wont last 100k even with a little abuse. My first car had over 115k on the original clutch when I sold the car and I learned to drive on it so it took a good beating for awhile there.

Ive got 27k on this one so far.

My last car was an integra. i tore the *bleep* outa that clutch constantly. Sold the car with stock clutch with something like 94k. (still drove like day one)

I do a lot of stop and go driving. I got 50k on my MR2 and had to do the clutch. 70K on my S10. If you are going up hills a lot in stop and go---it is a killer.

i only have 16k on mine and i learned on this car. mine is perfectly fine. i think one indicator would be the level of brake fluid. if you were smart, you would have made a mark on the cylinder like i did when i got the car (after i pumped the brakes and clutch)
now change my front pads, if the fluid level doesn't go up very much, that tells me that i've worn away alot of the clutch.
really not something totally accurate, but easier that dropping the tranny to check out the clutch.

also i've been told that you can check a clutch by putting it in 3rd gear and letting the clutch out, if it pulls the car, clutch is good

That is a pretty good test actually. Dont do it a lot, but a good dump of the clutch in 3rd running about 10 mph will tell you alot. Give it plenty of throttle, it should either kill the engine (which at 10 mph probably wont happen) or lug down and try to pull. If it is going to slip it most likely will then.

I tend to drive a little hard on my car everyday almost. My clutch is okay, and ive raced it plenty of times and goten many of launches. I can tell theres some wear, by where the pedal comes out to, but still pulls fine. Ive got to learn to ease off of it though, id hate to kill the damn thing. I just get in the mood, and i cant help myself.

With previous cars, I've lasted more than 60k miles on a stock clutch, but the day that I boosted it, squeezed it, or put some juice to it, the clutch was the first thing to go.

Most cars will last a long time on a stock clutch as long as the mods to the powertrain are minimal, but once you add a lot of power (50+ HP) to it, forget about it.
