View Full Version : Lightened Crankshaft Pulley
SinNaMin 07-27-2006, 11:06 PM I'm planning on getting a lightened pulley but i dunno which one to get so i need some advice. I know currently there are 3 for sale one from non stop tuning, Unorthodox and Agency Power. Which one is the best bang for the buck? Which one is better then the other i need lots of opinions please!
ToyoCel 07-27-2006, 11:31 PM Well i have an Agency pulley and im very happy with it. Its a lightweight pulley though... i believe that that underdriven pulleys(also weights less than stock pulley) release more HP than just a regular light weight pulley.
hPower 07-28-2006, 12:13 AM NonStopTuning aka NST has lots of options.
They have what they call the NST CR-Lite crank pulley which is a lightweight pulley. Same size as stock, just lighter. I think it weighs a little more than 1lb.

These are good for people who are supercharged because going with a smaller crank pulley would slow down the supercharger.
Then they have their famous Underdrive crank pulley that most people around here use. Smaller than stock to underdrive accessories and free up some extra power. This one weighs 14oz according to their website.

These are awesome for people who are n/a or turbo.

Go NST and go home happy
Simplyscion 07-28-2006, 12:43 AM yea, If your gonna go with a lightweight I would suggest going with the NST CR Lite pulley. I have one on my car and could not be happier. Throttle response is so much better now and if you have a lightweight flywheel the combo is unbeatable. Gotta give props to Mike and the boys at NonStopTuning.com
soros151 07-28-2006, 01:00 AM me want to!!
Kumitsu 07-28-2006, 01:15 AM NST all the way !
IceNine 07-28-2006, 02:06 AM NST.
Honestly, why would you even THINK about someone else?
Sam_J84 07-28-2006, 04:53 AM lol, i like what IceNine said. i wouldnt even consider anything else. i recommend going NST all the way. I'm currently running the NST CR-Lite pulley on my car also. NST has been making pulley's for years. They definatly know what there doing. There pulley's are top notch, and you will have no problem with them.
Kilo6_one 07-28-2006, 05:06 AM NST all the way.....i have all three, underdrive, alt. and water pullies. deffinalty made a very noticable improvment. also the service is second to none.......

SinNaMin 07-28-2006, 11:47 AM Thanx Guys! But i have a few questions about NST that i couldn't find answers for on their page. What exactly is the weight difference between their cr-lite crank pulley vs. the stock one. Did they dyno it to see what was the difference in hp numbers? Also what colors do they offer the pulleys in! Sorry guys i'm one picky sob!
DouBLeJ16 07-28-2006, 12:02 PM Go with agency power, it's a great pulley at a great price.

The following is from Mike, you can find him on AIM, NSTonAIM
1. OEM crank pulley = 59oz. NST CR-Lite crank pulley = 20oz.
2. Real world gains in most tCs seem to be 7-10hp for this pulley.
3. Special order pulleys are available in either silver, red, blue, graphite gray, or black.
He sais he likes hearing from people who post on SL so feel free to contact him on AIM with your questions :)
Crippie 07-28-2006, 07:05 PM Hey guys was looking at the NST site, and they have a few pulleys: altinator, pump, crank... ect. Do you guys normally get all of em, or just one? If one, which one? Crank?
Probably a stupid question, but dont know much.
soros151 07-28-2006, 07:16 PM If one, yes the crank, and yes normally better results would come from the whole set of 3 pulleys.
Crippie 07-28-2006, 07:56 PM Thanks
bigwhale 07-28-2006, 11:54 PM No brainer, I've got NST pulleys on my ride and its been one of my favorite mods as far as value for my dollar goes. And like others said, if you've ever got any questions, just hit up Mike on AIM with any questions. Best customer service for an aftermarket company by FAR imo.
Crippie 08-01-2006, 10:52 PM I just got the confirmation of my pulleys today, cant wait! How hard is it to install? I def wanna do the install myself... Anyone know where I can get a step by step install guide?
celix 08-02-2006, 08:38 AM Here you go. Full install-how to

Crippie 08-03-2006, 03:35 AM Hey guys, I've surfed the net trying to find where I can purchase the Belt. Any ideas? Should I go to the dealer for it?
toyota_scion_tc 08-03-2006, 04:22 AM Hey guys, I've surfed the net trying to find where I can purchase the Belt. Any ideas? Should I go to the dealer for it? Stock size? I got goodyear serp belt from autozone
hPower 08-03-2006, 05:54 AM You can go to Autozone, PepBoys, or any other auto parts store for the belt. Just take your belt number and find an associate that knows what he/she is doing.
Crippie 08-08-2006, 09:59 PM Two questions:
First.. do I NEED a new belt?
And second... for you NST guys out there... how long did it take you to get your CR-Lite Pulley? I got my aux pulleys pretty quick, (2-4 days) but im still waiting for the crank.
Any idea?
soros151 09-03-2006, 06:49 PM no answer for the guy?
