Default A/C Removal

OK, this is probably a bad idea seeing that most of the country is going through a heat wave, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried removing the A/C unit from their cars and changing the drive belt to a non A/C one to increase HP and maybe save some weight? What kind of gains are made?

I'm not sure the gains would be significant enough to make it worthwhile... just shutting off the A/C when wanting more power in combination with running an Underdrive crank will help without as much of a sacrifice...

doubt the gains would be worth while at all since most newer a/c units weigh only a couple pounds and hold only 1lbs of refrigerant.
