Any how-tos on shifter bushings?
I did a search cause Im pretty sure thats the first thing most of you will say. All I found was "I installed the bushings today", "Best $ spent". No how tos. I've got both the base bushings and the cable bushings coming in the mail tomorrow and I want to start the instal as soon as the mailman walks away. The base bushings sound like they are for the shifter asembly base, but I dont know. All I know is that they are suppossed to be good and thats all I needed to know. Apparently the cable bushings go somewhere under the airbox and they are great, again thats all I know. However now I need to know how to instal them both. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

there are directions with the bushings you know?
but anyways, for the base bushings you need to take off the white shift assembly. Get to that by taking off the center console. once the white shift assembly is removed, pop out the rubber bushings, and replace with the metal ones.
For the cable bushings, locate where the cable hooks up to the tranny, there will be 2 points of connection. take the cotter pinds out with a flathead, and pop out the rubber bushings, WD-40 helps.
Replace with the metal ones and put on the new cotter pins.
Easy as pie. takes 20 min for both installations combined.

there's two cable bushings at the transmission side of the cable eh? I only saw one last night when I looked
anyways yeah, the stock bushings in the engine bay are only held on by some cotter pins. I actually took mine off last night for the hell of it.

I just got back from a weekend in Maine to find the bushings in the mail. They did come with instructions for FWD Toyota. Not specifically for the Scion tC but it was a pretty straight forward instal. I took care of both of them in under an hour.
When doing the base bushings be careful not to drop any of them in the small hole under the shifter assembly.
I think the hardest part of the whole install was putting on the e clip on the cable bushings. Now if youll excuse me Im going to go and try out my new shifter bushings.

Yup Speed-Source FTW. Their instructions are always on point, and their products rock.
Installed the same ones in my friends Celica today, he was in love all over again..
www.speed-source.net $26 is the cheapest price out there!
