Default What do you guys think of this Pioneer set-up?

So since I want to keep my factory head unit, I figured I'd go all Pioneer. Here's what I was thinking about:
TS-C160R http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn..._35027,00.html for the front
TS-D161R http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...756456,00.html for the rear
GM-6200F http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...568903,00.html to power them
TS-W256C http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...020668,00.html subwoofer
GM-7200M http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...575363,00.html to power the sub

Now up until now I've always gone with Polk or Infinity speakers... Will I be disappointed with the quality? Sound?

TIA,

Ken

Hmm... Will you be getting 2 subs or just that one? If one, then spedning money on an 800watt amp makes no sense.... Get an amp that has just little or right ont the spot with the sub/subs RMS power range... If ure gettin one sub w/305watt rms then get noe more than 400watt amp..... no point getting 800watt amp n cranking it down about halfway... unless u r getting 2 then... go for it

I will only be going with one sub. I chose that amp because it is rated at 250 watts RMS@4 ohms, 360 watts RMS@2 ohms. It is rated at 800 watts PEAK. The sub is rated at 350 watts RMS, 800 watts PEAK. The speakers are matched to the amps correctly. My question was how is Pioneer's quality compared to Polk or Infinity? Will I be disappointed with the sound? Will the speakers produce good sound for the life of my car? Will the sound be natural, or will it be boomy and tinny?

back in the day (when i had an integra) i had infinity speakers all around n 2 12in pioneers in the back, those were only 150rms each, 450max... they hit really nice it didn't sound bad at all, u should probably go to circuit city/best buy n listen how they sound...

EDIT: as for speakers : NAH... They can't handle amplified power if u evern want to hook an amp to those 4speakers. They're okay, but in all honesty Infinity kappas 6.1/2 are so muuuuch better dude, n the prices r not that bad / http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...facturerID=610

Ignore "peak" ratings when putting together a system.

Matching RMS ratings makes a lot more sense

Aside from the sub, is anyone familiar with Pioneer components? Thanks Mandos, hence why PEAK was in caps. Thanks for the feedback Fuji... I know that Pioneer has been around forever, I just wanted to sure that they hadn't gone to crap like Sony. In 99-01 I installed an ES headunit in my Civic, and installed a Xplod setup in my best friends Civic. He went with 6 1/2" 3-ways and one 12" sub powered by a Xplod amps. It sounded pretty good. Not to long ago I installed a Xplod head unit and 2-way 6x8's in a Girl's Focus and it sounded horrible. I mean it lacked... bad. No bass, minimal midrange, just "tis tis tis" tweeteritis.

I had some on display in my store. They sound really good for there price. I would put them up against a polk momo or infinty kappa ( not perfects) any day. I just installed the same system for a customer with corrolla. Be prpared for a new headunit the stock radio puts lots of limitation on how good the car can sound

Thanks, I went to my local BB and listened to what they had on display... They didn't have the ones I listed on display, (or in the store for that matter) but they had the TS-A671R's (the Blue ones). They sounded ok... I don't know just ok... not full to say the least. They also had some Alpine S-Types and they sounded bland also. I dunno maybe they have it setup not to blow the speakers... I've been pretty satisfied with Infinity and with Polk, but I can get a killer deal on Pioneer. Every thing I listed new for $550 (no its not stolen). So I guess I just have to sell myself, but I don't want to be dis-satisfied and regret my purchase later...
