Pioneer SIRPNR2 Sirius Satellite Radio Tuner
Has anyone hooked this up to their Pioneer deck they've purchased? I'm asking because this should have better quality than those regular tuners which send fm waves and u pickem up like a regular radio station. This is supposedly better because it's a direct plugin so its all digital. No analoig radio waves from receiver to ur HU. Am i correct here??? If so, does anyone know if one can actualy tell the difference in quality or what not? thanks

it should sound better than FM.
but i don't know if the signal from the box to your deck is "digital". calling this a "digital tuner" can be somewhat nebulous.you are getting caught in the marketing hype. is the brain receiver digital? well yes, it has to be thats how satellite is transmitted. it's a digital signal...little zeros and 1's, no like fm. thats why you either get a signal or not..no in between.
but is that a fiber optic cable going to your deck? doubt it. they call it ip-bus. so you'd have to look that up with pioneer. maybe they are doing something special. but i would venture a guess that's is simlpy rewired a proprietary cable, just like kenwood's daisy chain system. 1 pin has red, 1 pin black, and the other pins carry the special sauce.
long story short, yes it should be better than fm..plus you'll get all the artist/channel info on your deck. go for it.

awesome sound quality on this!!!! only problem i have with it is the display only allows you to see the first 7 characters of a title or artist. So some songs and artists are cut in the middle and it gets annoying trying to figure out what the title of the song is.
If your talking about a reciever with an fm modulator so you can listen wirelessly to sirius, you might be forgeting that all scions come with an aux port so you can just plug it in like that and u dont have to deal with the radio waves
