Dealership Scratched up my Brand new Rims
Yesterday morning I got new a set of Konig Unknowns and new tires from America's Tire Company, then I went straight to the dealer to get an alignment. I told the service adviser I need an alignment and to be carefully with my underbody lights.
Two hours later I come back to the dealer to pick up my car and then the service adviser say he has bad news. He say two of my rims got scratched.
I'm like "You got to be joking, those rims have ten miles on them". Indeed there where scratches on the lip of my front right and back left rim. The adviser told me that I have to come back in on monday when the service manger is in and we will have to work something out. Now I hope I don't get the run around from these guys about get my rims replaced.
When I got home I noticed that one of the Konig Labels came off too. I don't now what they hell these guys where doing. I would stay away from the Oakland dealership on Broadway.

dude man.. hahah that sucks >< should of waited... hahaha or went to an independant place... not the dealership... i dont trust any dealership but stevens creek... even then it hasta be dave... not that asian kid who helps out.. whats his name.... trung?
Damn I'm sorry to hear. I had thought about getting my alignment done at the Fremont dealership after my coilovers are put in, but now I'm thinking about going to a privately owned shop. Good luck with the rims.
Here is an update. I tried to take some pics but my camera can't pick up the scratches.
I called back the service manager at the dealership and he wanted me to come in so that he could take a look at the damage. I stopped by after work and he was able to see where the scratches where. The guy who did the alignment explained how they got scratched. Apparrently when he was mounting the equipment for the alignment he moved to quick and scratched the rim. I guess he didn't learn from his first mistake and scratched up a second one.
The Service manage asked me what I wanted done and I told him I want my rims to look brand new or get me new ones. I showed him the receipt so that he could see how much to replace them. Then he asked me if I would take a cash settlement, but I don't think he wanted to give me the cost for new rims. I told him again I want my rims looking new or get me new rims. The scratches aren't that noticable but just off priniciple I won't take the money.
He told me that we will call me back tomorrow and we can work something out. I think he wants to see it would be cheaper to re-chrome and re-paint the rims or buy new ones. I'll see what the service manager say tomorrow.

jon.. haha.. funny...
anyway.... for something minor as what i'm reading... i'll be cheaper to repair your current rims.
for future reference, there's a shop in milpitas that i know many people trust very well with alignments... they have one of the high-tech machines
auto innovations.. located next to gabe's shop
i know many people travel a ways to have it done there.

wheel techniques does a pretty good job... and i hear good thing about auto innovations... you can always sue them for money and then just get tthem repaired. its cheaper to get it repaired than new ones.... so see if theyll give you new rim money
The dealer will want to give the money to you.
Don't take it!
The money will be enough, (if you're lucky), to cover the cost of the rims.
It probably won't cover, tax, dis-mount, mount, & balance.
Look out for the hiden costs. There is also the time spent away from work,
could have been earning wages instead of di%#ing around with this.
And yes, I also rec. Auto Innovations.
Good luck Rhett.

Hope it works out I had the same story way back when I got my first set of rims, got them installed at America's Tire Company went to another shop to have the alignment done, scratched all of them slightly! Apparently the tool contacts the lips, shop was cool about it and I had them repaired at Wheel Techniques and they paid the bill...mine were Konigs too..hmm. If you do get them repaired like xAScionicle said make sure you get a complete out the door estimate so you don't get stuck with paying for something..
I just got a call from the Service manager from the Oakland dealership that I went to. He agreed to purchase two new Wheels to replace the scatched two. I explained to him how it would pretty much cost the same to get the scatches repaired as to purchase new ones. Plus he didn't want to pay for a rental car for the week that it would take to have them serviced. He going to order the rims and call me when they come in. He told me that they could mount the tire there for me as well.
I'm thinking Hell no. I'm probably go back to Discount tires to have them mount and balanced my tires.
