Default Just inside the fuel opening...

I recall other cars having a metal flap/valve that the gas-pump nozzle pushes out of the way when you're filling up. However, on the tC (well at least mine, anyway) there isn't one. I can see just about all the way down into the pipe.

Is it supposed to be like this?

There's a hanger for the gas cap on the door, and there is no metal flap there, as I think that was to prevent back flow, which is done somewhere further down the line... also, the fuel filler hose routes to the left, down the left side of the wheel well, so you can't see too far down there...

also... vapor recovery is built into the cap itself... so you better tighten it down properly or that CEL will come on

i've seen uneducated people come to me with CELs.. read the reading... and just laughed.... they weren't tightening the cap down.. (this has happened more than once)

you gotta hear it click!!!

For some reason, inside my filler neck, there is rust residue. I notice it everytime I fill up. I don't touch it because maybe the dust will contaminate my fuel. That's all I notice..
