View Full Version : First fatal accident in a tC?
krdshrk 08-10-2006, 06:31 PM I haven't heard of any fatal accidents before in a tC, but I was just shown this article.
It happened in Orlando, FL. The driver was 17. The tC was sandwiched between a bus and a truck. The truck was carrying carpeting, so you know it was heavy... just... wow.

krdshrk 08-10-2006, 06:38 PM Oops... I don't look in off topic... It's meant to be in the tC forums though - I want to know if there have been any fatal accidents before.

There was one in WA state a few months ago, it was really bad I think 3 or 4 people died. I will see if I can find the thread.
ProshopXB 08-10-2006, 06:47 PM This was a very bad bad one: http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=125992&highlight=crash
krdshrk 08-10-2006, 06:49 PM Waitaminute... i'm looking at the pics and video closely...... there's no way that's a tC. Metal roof, gas tank door on the PASSENGER side.... that was a neon all the way. *(@&)*&$
Forget it...... lock/delete it.... bah

Yup gas door on the passenger side is a dead give away, but the rims make it look like a tC.
TC1892 08-10-2006, 08:38 PM whats even funnier is that in the article its says the "Dodge Neon" was hit from behind by the white truck then goes on to say that the driver of the truck never saw the "Scion"....doh!!! But weather or not what it was, that still sucks that had to happen....some people just don't pay attention while they drive.
TongMan 08-10-2006, 08:45 PM MAN! That sucks!
lucky 08-10-2006, 09:39 PM 150,000 tc's have been sold in over two years and you think this is the first fatal accident involving one?
azepolyn 08-10-2006, 10:24 PM The cars are really well built. Go run your tC into a wall sometime.
the wreckedscions website shows some really bad incidents, a couple of them HAD to be fatal
tcKing 08-10-2006, 11:02 PM Ever wonder how safe our glass roofs are? Anybody have problems with hail storms??
06CStC 08-10-2006, 11:11 PM Hmmm...in the video, they said "the green scion". Weird... in the text, its a neon.

paul34 08-10-2006, 11:35 PM that's crazy... I almost ran into someone yesterday, some idiot yapping on his cell and braking at the last SECOND to avoid someone that was turning in front of him
this is why I follow pretty far behind people... it ____es off people behind me, but hey, I'm not the one who'll end up in someone's backseat and points on my license and really expensive insurance
and possibly a lost life
I saw this article in the paper, and it said Dodge Neon, but They looked like tC rims to me.
Did she say Scion enough on the video? Somebody should write them and tell them it is a dodge.
paul34 08-11-2006, 03:44 AM wow I still can't get over how horrible and almost freak status this accident is...
freaks me out, dang. What a horrible time it must be for the person's parents and friends...
Thermalzeal 08-14-2006, 10:13 PM Freakin ___ hole couldnt pay attention. He should be charged and serve jail time.
You should also be required to get a higher class drivers licence for big trucks and heavy vehicles that are used for commercial purposes.
BSP_5c10n 08-15-2006, 01:57 AM Yeah definately looks like a neon with scion tc rims... given the "TuneR" sticker on the side, I wouldn't doubt it.
1. Scion tCs do not come in green.
2. No glass roof.
3. Somehow I doubt the tC would just fold up like that unless it was hit by an 18 wheeler. A dodge neon I could believe however.
The news people are just dumb. The car was so badly mangled all they could probably use to identify the car was the Scion center caps. The person who wrote the article probably later learned it was in fact a Dodge Neon and corrected it.
Anyway, that really sucks and should teach us all to not take life for granted for it can be taken away from us in a split second. God rest his soul.
RedLine_tC 08-15-2006, 01:57 AM well ya, that is def. a dodge neon w/ scion wheels
BSP_5c10n 08-15-2006, 02:11 AM Someone want to repost this in the SRT-4 forums? lol
filmnews 08-15-2006, 02:23 AM There was a Scion TC that was flipped upside down on 290 on Chicago yesterday. I waited about an hour for them to clean up the wreck. Did anybody else see this? It was right after the show in Elmurst.
stephen6119 08-15-2006, 02:38 AM alright i dont know if anyone else read the article that goes along with the picture, but im pretty sure it says something like this...
"A mangled pile of metal is all that was left of the green Dodge Neon that was hit from behind by a white pickup."
pmpnxb 08-15-2006, 08:23 PM Yeap.. it was a neon with some tC wheels... still sucks though... No one should have to die because some jacka$$ wasn't paying attention!
dasfook 08-16-2006, 03:52 AM 150,000 tc's have been sold in over two years and you think this is the first fatal accident involving one?
Yeah, I was scratching my head at the thread title too. I think as owners/enthusiasts, we tend to put the tC under a special light. The reality of it is, the tC is just another car and no matter how safe they try to make it, it can never be 100%. People are killed in auto accidents all the time, it's just a fact of life.
brownfield 08-16-2006, 03:55 AM Naw, there was a ranger at bragg that flipped it and he flew out of his sunroof on the way to myrtle beach... That was last year!
